IVF gals - did you do assisted hatching ?

Hi gals,
I'm going poll crazy

Just curious, those of you who have done IVF, did you do assisted hatching or not ? It's really expensive ($1,300 - it only takes a few mins !!) but I think that I would like to do it again. IVF #1 we did AH (bfp), IVF #2 didn't do AH (bfn). So for our third try .... seems AH is warrented (plus I'm now 40 !).

Thanks
Teresa

PS. it's muliple choice as I know that many have done > 1 IVF cycle

Hey Teresa I would say go for it. They note that it's best used in woman 40-43 going through IVF as their outter zona maybe harder for the embryo to hatch from. They say it could have the oppisite effect though in those that are younger with a thinner shell. They did AH with my second IVF and it was a BFN (i'm only 30...will be 31 tomorrow) Best wisehse to you!!

Nice poll. I love polls, too.

I wish I could answer twice. Two fresh IVFs, BOTH with AH (they AH all embryos for free) and two BFNs.

Hi, Theresa, I had ah at my old clinic and got a bfp but had a m/c/chemical. My first cycle I did not have it and got a bfn. This fet I don't believe they did ah but I just read Stacey's post and she said that the Clinic does it for free. I might have had it and didn't know! Stacey and I go to the same place. I think that they would have told me if they did it, lol????????????

Nice to "see" you!!!

Can we do a poll AH w/Medrol and without Medrol? I've heard that it's necesarry to do the steroid thing for AH, especially if acid was used as opposed to laser to prevent rejection. Of course my RE didn't give me Medrol/steroids, and I got BFN both times....

I did AH with a BFN. I also was on 16mg of medrol until transfer and reduced to 4mg after transfer.

I can't believe they charge 1300. My clinic charges 450.

AH is included in the costs at my clinic. They do it for everyone. I too was on medrol for 4 days leading up to transfer.

My clinic has never mentioned AH to me. But I would say go for it since
it worked in the past for you. I've read that it aids in the PG rates for women
over 35. Isn't it funny how much prices vary clinic to clinic?

Take Care,

I've never had AH done & was successful 2 of 4 times. (3 cycles were my own, the last was my GS cycle)
