prog. shot question - please help

    Okay ladies,
I hope this is not TMI but I have a question. When DH gave me my prog. shot tonight, when he pulled the needle out of my skin, blood went everywhere for about five seconds. After a few seconds of pressure, it quit. He panicked! Has this happened to anyone before?

I'm feeling okay, and DH made sure he didn't hit a vein before he injected the prog....I'm just not sure why this happened?!?

    Hey Jamie,

I had this happen once too. It bled really bad for about 5 seconds and then stopped. I'm not sure why it did that but it didn't happen again. Was this your first one?

    Hi Jamie,
I've done 6 IVF's so that accounts for lots of progesterone shots! This has happened to me several times. I think that he probably went through a vessel. (This can happen and the end of the needle won't be inside the vessel.) There is no harm done, there just will sort of be bruising there tomorrow. I would avoid the general vicinity of that injection site if possible. Good luck to you! Shanna

I agree with Shanna, you'll probably end up with a nice bruise, but other than that, nothing wrong. There were a few occasions where I bled after my H removed the needle, not very often, but a couple times.

    HI Jamie,

I have bled a few times too...like someone else said it probably hit a blood vessel. I always ice the spot after my shot so I never have the bruising.

Each day as I watch you struggle I am reminded to find joy in the little things, to stop and smell the flowers, and that some things are more important than material things. Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son.

OMG.. girlfriend... you are so not alone and tell that sweet DH of yours that he did ok.

This is called.... "You got a bleeder" Yup, welcome to the club. This is when you gasp and freak out the first time it happens then after that you always have that gause pad right at your fingertips to quickly quickly put it on the BLEEDER.

I hope you are ok, we are here for you and totally understand.
