Question Question about Repronex shot

Just a quick question about the Repronex shot. My hubby injects me in the upper/outer part of my hip/butt in the mornings. However, whenever he does, after he pulls out the needle there is always quite a bit of bleeding (not enough to need a bandaid or anything). So, I'm very worried that my body is not getting enough of the Repronex, that it is coming out with the bleeding. Any thoughts on this?? Thanks ladies, you all are the best!!! Baby dust to all!!!!

I'd say it's unlikely that enough of your meds are leaking out to cause any issues. The needle is 1.5" long so those meds go in pretty deep. You're probably hitting blood vessels near the surface which is causing the bleeding. I once shot blood across the room when DH pulled the needle out!

I agree with the above. I would ask your RE about doing them Sub-q, though. They are much easier that way

Repronex

Hi- I also take Repronex. I have found it less painful to inject it into my stomach, and I rarely draw blood.

Good Luck!

I bleed a lot whenever I do any of my injections. However, I also have a bleeding disorder that doesn't allow me to clot correctly.

I agree with everyone else. I think that you are getting all of your meds, but that maybe it would help if you inject yourself in the belly....

The bleeding may be coming hitting a vein. Is he checking when he first injects by pulling back on the syringe to make sure there is no blood??

If you do hit a vien, your body is hit with the meds faster than they should be and it can cause OHSS.

My DH said he was doing it, but when I bled the one time, I asked if he did, and he said he forgot. Just make sure - it is important!!

I also did my repronex subq (in the stomach). You are giving yours IM (intramuscularly) if you are getting it in your butt. The difference is the length/size of the needle. Do not try to inject into your stomach with the needles you have for the butt, they are much too big. Make sure your dh withdraws and makes sure there is no blood in the syringe before injecting the meds. Check with your re also. Me being a nurse i even worried about not getting the correct amount of meds for my cycles even though I know you sometimes "lose a little" when giving injections (even in the stomach).
