    lupron storage

I have a really stupid question.. I started Lupron today and the package says store less than 77 degrees but do not freeze. We are from Ohio and it is about 90 degrees today and sticky humid and feels mch warmer (plus our air conditioner broke yesterday and he can not fix til tommorrow). Do you guys think I should refrigerate? I need your thoughts...I do not want to do the wrong thing.

Lupron MUST be refrigerated both before and after the medication has been opened (as soon as you get it home!). My pharmacist is always very clear in his instructions about that!!!

Ditto here about keeping your lupron in the fridge. That's what I've done for all of my cycles and the lupron has always worked perfectly.

    Hugs,

Oh No! My pharmacy never told me to refrigerate the Lupron. They only told me to keep the Follistim cold. They specialize in fertility medicines so should I call them and make sure they didn't forget to tell me?

The refridgeration thing is because it is multi-use, not because of any effects to the medication itself. There are two schools of thought -- one that if the medication will be used within 30 days then it is fine without refridgeration and the more conservative one that any multi-use vial should always be refridgerated. My RE said I could do whatever I felt comfortable with.

    Our little miracle:

Each day as I watch you struggle I am reminded to find joy in the little things, to stop and smell the flowers, and that some things are more important than material things. Your smile melts my heart, and takes the chronic pain away, if only for a fleeting moment. Thank you for the joy that you bring, my son.

Either way is fine, but yeah, considering how awfully hot and humid it's been here (isn't it terrible? ), I'd stick it in the fridge...

I remember asking my nurse if I could just keep my Lupron in the fridge in case I could use it again next cycle and she said "You've been keeping it in the refrigerator?" which made me worry about refrigerating it! (And I live in FLA too, so it's not cool here or anything!). She said it should be fine either way. So I wouldn't worry about it.
    Best wishes to you!
    Tara
