    Hi,

I was a smoker too and quit the evil stuff when started ttc. My RE said that becauseIVF embies are more fragile than embies conceived naturally, any unnatural toxins can affect them more easily. He also said that it can bring down your chances by 50%. The really hard part about it is that the stress of IVF REALLY makes you want to light up!
I hope that you have a great cycle no matter what you decide. Dont be too hard on yourself, giving up smoking is one of the hardest things you can do. I promise you though, that if you do, you will feel soooo much better (dont you hate reformed smokers?!)

    Hi Penny
I am new to this site but wanted to share w/ you the info I found out. (I just stopped smoking myself going on 2 months)

EVERYTHING I have read and heard from my dr says smoking decreases your chance of fertility and you have a 30% better chance of getting pregnant w/ IVF if you quit 3 months prior to the procedure. Also, men smoking decreases their count and motility. I MADE my husband quit chewing for that fact as I told him I was not going through IVF if his boys were still not up to par. Hey everything we can do to help our chances I think we have to.

I hear you about the rationalization that lots of people who smoke have kids but I hate to tell you that you should give it up to help your chances. BEST OF LUCK. YOU CAN DO IT!
