Smile 1st IVFer here, any late July/early Aug ERs?

Hello all! I'm a first time IVFer (had 7 failed IUIs) and am so excited to be starting my first IVF!!! I will be doing my first Lupron shot on Sunday (I'm still on the BCPs now). Just wondering if I have any cycle buddies out there? If all goes as planned, we will be doing our ER around the end of July, and our transfer in early August. I would love to have some cycle buddies to chat with and help pass the time with...lord knows I will need all the help I can get with that!! Baby dust to all!!!!!

Good to see you Monica! I'm a little ahead of you...start lupron last week for IVF #1, but I'm sure you will find many good cycle buddies here.

Best of luck to you as you begin IVF #1!!

1st Timer also!!

Hi there!

I am also a first timer although I am not sooo excited. I'm a little afraid of the injections. I go in tomorrow....where supposedly they will make a nurse out of me.....sonogram/injection instructions (also still on BCPs)!

I am sooo glad I can have other IVFers to chat with!
I'll start my lupron July 8th- Friday!!!

So how bad are the shots?

Hi ...

I am a week late i guess. I am alos first timer and I am scared to death of injections. I dont know How i can manage. 5 IUI failed cycle and moving on IVF in JUly/ Aug.

I will be on BCP from 7/10 and 7/22 will start lupron and within 1 week I will on stims.

so my ER will be in early Aug.

So I can share my pain with my cycle buddies.

It is my first time too. I will be starting Lupron 7/18 with ER about 8/7. I am not worried about the SQ injections like Lupron I am worried about the IM Progesterone. I read on these discussion boards that they hurt. I am glad to see there will be some 1st timers with me..hopefully we can get each other through this!

Wow! Quite a few first timers!! It's a scary thing, but so exciting at the same time!! Honestly, the shots aren't that bad, not even the PIO. The PIO is really thick so you just need to make sure that you rub the injection site really well after every shot for a good couple of minutes. There is a pinned post at the top of this board & it says somethinga bout PIO tips. Warm the bottle of PIO between your legs, under your arm or in your bra for about 5 minutes to help thin it a little bit. It'll be much, MUCH easier to draw it up & then inject it right away.

Honestly, the worst part about the PIO is the anticipation of getting it! Yes, it can be uncomfortable, I won't lie, but it's really not as bad as you think it's going to be. I'm sure that after you get your 1st one, you'll be saying to yourself, "gee, that wasn't too bad!!"

I'll be a little bit ahead of you. My IM's retrieval will be the last week of July & I'll be transferring 2 days later!!

Karen

Hi Ladies,
This is my 2nd IVF and I am on lupron now and starting stims on 7/11. I am on a longer protocol than before since I was a low responder with a failed IVF. ER probably around 7/22 and then ICSI and assisted hatching and transfer 3 days later.

You will become so proficient at the injections and it won't even phase you when your are done because it is so worth the effort. It gave me a feeling of helpfulness vs. helplessness with IF. Even though my 1st was a bfn I still felt like I was doing something really good to increase my chances for the bfp.

Best of luck gals, you are brave! It really helps to stay in touch with others on these boards. A cyber shoulder is so supportive in this journey.

Hugs and baby dust to all!

Yeah! I'm so glad to see that there are other first timers out there!! I'm not too worried about the injections. I did 3 IUIs with injections and those were a breeze, but I am a little worried about getting the first PIO shot, but I'll take all the painful injections I can get to get a BFP at the end!!! Looking forward to getting to know all of you better and seeing lots of BFPs in August!!!!

Had my sono today.....all is clear to start lupron tomorrow. Thanks you guys for the reassurance that the shots are not sooo bad. My hubby will be giving them to me.....we're scheduled for tomorrow morning early.....6 am-ish...... just hoping that after the shot I can curl up in bed before going to work.

You guys give me soooo much hope for the possibility for a 2nd round of this insanity. Before reading this thread I was set on only one round!

Here's to sore bellies, bottoms, and arms!!! I'm just going to count to 10 everytime I'm going to get poked! And God willing by ten the needle should be out! I'm also going to do all kinds of other things.....ice.....massage...... lidocain (sp?).....tylenol......you name it! I'm the biggest chicken on this planet when it comes to needles! The bigger injections I just don't want to even see! I asked my IVF nurse if she could just place an IV line for all the drugs....she laughed!

I'm crazy....but I would like to just secretly poke myself just with the needle today just see what its going to feel like for tomorrow......aahhh.

Anyhoo, I'm glad I finally have somewhere to dump!

Lupron- 7/8 to 7/16
Stims- 7/16
Trigger Injection- 7/26 (ouch!)
ER- 7/28
ET- 8/1
Bed Rest- 8/1 to 8/7
