I need your opinions on this. DH and I have decided to purchase a three cycle plan. For $20K, we get three cycles including 3 FETs until we take home a baby. This however is not a money back guarantee. Each cycle at my clinic alone is about $11K. Each FET is $2K. Ok, so....
We have one other option. The money back guarantee plan is $30K and we would get back $20K. So we'd be out $10K instead of out $20K.
I have two failed cycles already, but RE is optimistic.
What should I do - go for the $20K non-refund, or the $30K refund?
Edited to add that all funds will be borrowed...

Wow, that's a tough choice. I guess I would say that I'd go for the $30K plan. Of course, that's if it wouldn't put me in a bad financial situation I wish you guys the best of luck in your decision.

Thanks for your comment/vote, angeliagg ~ yeah, the whole lot will be financed, regardless if it's $20K or $30K. The difference in payment is like $200 per month, which we could possibly swing, but it would be tough...

I think I would go with the $30,000--if it wouldn't put me in a bind. I'm a big what if person---what if there is something else wrong that hasn't been diagnosed, etc, etc. I also think it would depend on my plans if none of the cycles work---is adoption a consideration---if so, then the refund could be used for that---or could be put towards additional ivf cycles at the $11,000.
I wish I knew the winning lottery numbers...

Stace,
Is your RE optomistic that IVF will be successful for you? Has he given you any gut insticts on your specific situation??

Stacie,
I voted for the 30K option - since you would be financing - and could get back 20K of it - it makes more sense in the long run. And what happens if the next cycle gets you pg's right away?? Can the rest go towards a future tx cycle?? (that is if you and dh plan to have more than one)

Wow that is so tough!! Technically you only have one failed IVF with your current DH. There's still a chance your FET will work and you won't even need to worry about this. That's my vote!

Ok, should the FET not work I think I might go for the $20K no refund plan. That's 3 more fresh cycles and 3 more shots at FET's. I think if your RE thinks your chances are good that you'll likely not need the refund anyway! Is there possibly any more testing you could do before further tx (SCSA, immune, etc)?
Good luck!!!!

I would go with the $30K plan. An interesting thing I've found when comparing is, the shared-risk programs are a lot more thorough in monitoring any lifestyle issues that could affect your success. For example, cancelling cycles if either partner smokes or is not within certain body mass index restrictions. Since their money is at stake too, they are more thorough (at least the one we're considering).

Hey, Nik - RE has NO idea why this last cycle did not work. None. He is optimistic about the future.
