Hello everyone,
I'm getting ready for my 1st IVF & got my 2nd Lupron injection this morning. Yesterday & today both.........immediately after getting the injection of Lupron It started itching really bad at the injection site. Then it bubbles up like a little mosquito bite. It then gets really red all around that area. Has anyone else experienced this? I called my RE office yesterday & they said that maybe I didn't let the alcohol dry enough & to take the shot again today & make sure it was dry 1st. Please let me know if this is normal or a slight allergic reaction to the Lupron. Have a good day. Holly.

Holly, that is very normal, alot of women on the board have had that happen. You'll find that with all the different shots we have to do with this awful IVF stuff, there will be tons of weird, scary side effects but the good thing is most of them will be perfectly normal. Where are you injecting the shot? I did mine in the stomach and I had the redness and a few times I got small welts.
I hope this eases your mind a little. Good luck with the shots....I hate Lupron! If you've never taken it before, it's going to throw some bad side effects your way but don't worry, they are all normal!

Holly - Welcome! Hope your stay here is short. As for the lupron, I have never had that kind of reaction. However, the side effects hit me pretty bad. (hot flashes, headaches) Hopefully you won't experience these.
Good luck with your shots and your cycle.

I got red spots sometimes and itchy or stinging sensation for awhile after the lupron. Nothing that didn't go away after awhile though. Hope you do ok. That lupron is nasty...the other meds didn't bother me as much.

As everyone already mentioned, this is common. However, try doing diferent things and see if it makes a difference. I notice that for me, if I puch the meds in real slow that I don't tend to have that reaction. Also, if I rub the area right after to help it disperse, it doesn't cause a bump. For some it helps to ice it and others it helps to warm up the area before. To be honest it's really not a big deal, it just annoying. LOL Good Luck! After 10 IVF cycles, I can honestly say that I hae master the art of injections!

Holly,
I had the same thing happen everytime I did the Lupron injection and it would burn a little sometimes. It would always go away in about an hour. Don't worry I think it's pretty normal.
