39 and TTC - help

Hello. Everyone seems so knowledgable on these post, I finally decided to post. I am 39, 4 failed IUI's on Clomid. I just did my first IVF. I had a day 3 FSH of 10.9, went on 300mgs of Follistem and 300mgs of Repronex, produced 13 follicals, which resulted in 8 eggs, which resulted in 3 that lived to transfer, he said they were not the best quality.

Of the 3, two were 8 cell and one was 5 cell, all ICSI. I go for BETA tomorrow. I took an early HT today and negative. My question is, has anyone had similar FSH and age and got PG?

Also, do the early preg test work? Has anyone had any good or bad exp with them, or does everyone just wait for the blood test - that 14 days is the longest.

I will try another cycle, I guess like most, I am convienced I just can't concieve for some unknown reason. My DH and I have had every test, and other than age, we are ok..I guess being older is really a big factor. Any advise?

Hi, Christine!

From the research I've done, it is reasonable to expect IVF can work at 39, especially since you have no other problems.

Regarding age, I am a big proponent of Eastern medicine to minimize the effects of aging. I didn't follow it with my IVF cycle (just got a BFN this week), but I am following the nutritional therapy in "The Infertility Cure" before I try IVF again. I have heard of many success stories, people either conceiving naturally after a few months, or in combination with Western medicine, like IVF. According to the author, Randine Lewis, age doesn't have to be a factor if you get your body in a healthy balance.

Just my 2 cents! I figure it certainly can't hurt!

Good luck on your beta tomorrow. You thought the past two weeks were long! Will look for your post.

First off, I only trust EPT.
Secondly, YES!! I'm a high fsh success story!!
I was 37 yrs old with high fsh of 17.6. I had a lack luster IVF cycle, 8 follies, only 3 had eggs, only 1 mature. It was a bfn.

But I did get pg naturally 2 months later.

Which means it's NOT impossible!!!

Got my fingers crossed for you. Get an EPT.

Christine, I wanted to wish you good luck. Also, if you do another cycle you may want to find out more about Repronex not being good for us older gals eggs.
