Any success w/BCP during cycle?

Hi...
Sorry, I have so many questions.
I am currently on BCP (started on CD2) to put my cycle "on hold"... I'm having a hysteroscopy next week CD10 to check for any polyps. If all is clear, I'm supposed to get off of BCP and let my cycle resume and start stimming.
I'm very confused on how this works. I've read about the 'down-regulation' where you start BCP a week BEFORE you start your cycle. Well, I started mine AFTER I started not for the purpose of 'down-regulation' but to manipulate the timing...

I'm debating if I should wait for my next cycle to be safe..???
Has anyone ever done this? Is this totally normal??

pg mentioned

I have had three IVF cycles. On one cycle I did not use the BCP. On the other two, my RE had me start the BCP on cycle day 3 (third day of my period) and I took it for 21 days. During the last week of it, I started my suppression injections, so they overlapped for a few days. Using the BCP protocol for those two cycles, resulted in my getting pregnant each time (hopefully this latest one sticks too!). The one time I didn't use the BCP as part of my protocol, I got a BFN.

Hope that answers your question? I know different RE's doing things differently, and some people do and don't like to be on the BCP beforehand.

HUGS
