Sorry if this is TMI... but I was wondering if anyone knows the reasoning behind the request by many doctors for you to avoid orgasm after your transfer? I'm terribly worried, since I have had three.... ahem.... nice dreams.... and it happened in my sleep. I'm very concerned that it will somehow harm my chances. I am 12 days past my egg retrieval, 9 days past my transfer.
Does anyone know the reasoning for this?
Worried.......

I think it is because they don't want us to have those little contractions fearing that they may interfere with implantation. I'm sure you are fine though......I think they are mostly concerned about no orgasm from intercourse and my Dr said no intercourse at all until after the beta test.
Hey, but good for you! At least you are in good "spirit"!!!!!!

Hi there,
On my third (and only successful) IVF I had those *BIG O* dreams several times during the 2ww and all was well. If it weren't for the timing I would have felt blessed LOL.
You should be just fine

Thanks so much for your replies. I've been so anxious worried about it. I'm afraid to go to sleep at night!
I sure hope it didn't cause my uterus to contract! It's good to hear that someone else has had them (of course it only happens to me after IVF, go figure! LOL) and has still been successful! this waiting is killing me... gives me a chance to worry about every little thing... sighhhhh.
Thanks again for responding. Such an embarrassing question, I really appreciate it

Hi buttons, I had the same thing last IVF cycle. In fact, they were so strong painful at the end that I was so worried. I believe it is the estrogen patches I was on.

As Nayla said, they don't want your uterus contracting when your little ones are trying to implant.
If you're having them in your sleep, then you obviously can't stop it from happening, but don't go out & do it on purpose. Some girls get the "nice" dreams during their 2ww, others like me get jipped!

I can't tell you how nice it is to hear I'm not the only one!! LOL No one ever told me this was a possible side effect of IVF... I was quite shocked when it kept happening. Thanks for letting me know I'm not a freak
Thank you thank you thank you !

Hi Buttons you are not alone!
I had 2 so far, I believe my first one was when I was 10dp3dt (woke up clutching the bed sheet with a big smile on my face) and the 2nd one happened rather quickly the very next night, woke up with whiplash...like huh? what was that? Its all very weird when it happens, cos you know you are not supposed to have "them" but you have no control over it and if it happens naturally it "must" be ok
take care

Me tooo! I'm so glad someone brought this subject up! I have had some major, hot, sexy dreams and woke up in the middle of an orgasam. However, my clinic has not said anything about not having sex or orgasims after transfer. ???? I have avoided sex just by not wanting to take any chances on the tranfer not implanting.
I guess the drugs were on are causing these dreams.

Is it normal to feel particularly "amorous" after ET? I am dying! And I am not usually like this!
