HPT Prior to Beta

Hi, all...

Anyone get a + on an HPT 36 hours prior to beta and then get a + beta??

I know, I know...... I should just wait. But....

Can 36 hours really make any difference if it really is positive? What about 24??

I transferred 2 early blasts (5 days -- retrieval was 02/24) on 03/01. My beta is not until friday (03/11) morning. Of course, I am sick of waiting. LOL

Thanks!!!!!

I am a HPT addict so I started testing 5 days before my beta (started testing Monday/Beta on Friday) and I did get a positive each day. and than had a positive beta.

BUT..... I do think I was lucky because many people do not have high HCG levels that early. I have read about many people who get negative HPTs but get a positive beta.

I'm the last person to say don't do it, but if you do, you need to realize that it is still early and that the results may not be accurate yet.

Best of luck!! Look forward to seeing your results on Friday!!

I started testing 4 days before my beta - 6day transfer on 12/14, started testing on 12/20, beta on 12/24. I got a + every day I tested and then had a + beta.

Good luck!

DON'T DO IT!!! I've seen quite a few ladies do an hpt & get a negative hpt & a very positive beta!! (even doing the hpt the MORNING of their beta!!) I've also seen a couple people (one of them my very good friend who did a DE cycle) get several positive hpt's & then get a completely negative beta.

Doing an hpt will not give any solid answers, so you're best just waiting for your beta, the one & only true test.

Good luck!! Friday will be here soon!!! Not soon enough, but soon!!

I HAVE to do a HPT before my beta! I kind of need to see the negative to prepare myself for the neg. phone call. And then of course if it turned out a positive beta I would have been happily
surprised. Plus this time I scheduled my beta a couple days later because I only work parttime and had already taken time off for ret. and transfer so I scheduled it on my day off. Plus I don't want to hear another negative at work. This is my last try and I will probably lose it if it didn't work!!

Its funny, on my first IVF that produced ds, I didn't even think of doing a hpt. And I didn't even get a beta # or anything. Course I know alot more now!

I have one week from today, arrgg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wishing you good luck for a BFP!!!!!

It's so funny.... I was not even tempted to do one until the last day or two....

I took friday afternoon off from work so DH & I could be together, whether it be bad or good news. I am so frazzled emotionally now I guess I am just really really hoping ( like everyone else in this situation!) for the + now so I can perk up a bit.

Thanks for your advice.... friday seems so far away!!
