    back to back cycles???

I just got off the phone with the nurse - told her that I hadn't gotten AF yet (BFN beta on 3/1) and she said that if I wanted to I could come in on day 2 for a baseline and start a new cycle this month... Originally, they had said to rest one month. I had suggested doing another IUI in between, as our only dx is low sperm count... She said that if there were any leftover follicles they wouldn't do it but would do an IUI with clomid.

Anyone ever done back to back cycles like this?
Should I wait a month? HELP!

    Lisa

After my first I went right back into my 2nd and had a chemical pregnancy. Then I waited about 2 months in b/w b/c AF was slow coming and then my 3rd and 4th were nack to back. Nothing was affected with my stimulation. Everything went well..just got BFN but that was not the reason why.

I am confused... I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow to see if I have any leftover follicles in my ovaries from the last IVF. How can there be follicles still in there if I just had a retrieval? If there are any follicles, I have to wait one month before starting a new IVF cycle (but will do an IUI this month), if not, then I start stimulation drugs tomorrow (day 2 of cycle...) I don't get it.

    Hi Lisa,

You should get some clarification from a nurse or doctor. A day 2 baseline ultrasound normally checks for cysts that could have developed and remained from a prior cycle. If a large enough cyst is present, a cycle is usually cancelled to avoid further stimulation.

Sometimes cysts rupture naturally and everything is okay to proceed. Cyst are common especially with over stimulation from IF medications. It is my belief that follicle sacs fill up to hormonally support a pregnancy and perhaps sometimes they don’t reduce or rupture when pregnancy is not achieved.

    Best wishes.

Thanks for your input everyone... I went and had my baseline today and I only had one very small cyst, so the dr. said that it was fine to do another cycle this month. I start stimming tonight! I just hadn't heard of many women doing it so soon after a BFN.

    Lisa,

Most docs make you wait a month inbetween cycles, but I read in several places that it is only for emotional reasons and there isn't a medical reason to wait. If I get a BFN this month I'm gonna try to get my doc to OK a back to back. Hope this one's the one for you!

Now I'm confused Lisa. Are you going to start another IVF or are you doing an IUI?? Good luck! I have seen ladies do back to back cycles with no rest time between. Most people want to have the extra time for emotional reasons & to allow their body to get "back to normal", whatever that is in the world of IF.

    Good luck! Keep us posted!!

I am definitely starting a new cycle! Went in for my baseline yesterday and they said I was good to go, so I started my stims last night! They changed my protocol by adding repronex and antagon. I was on just Gonal-f and lupron last time. Hopefully I'll get more eggies this time!

Are you on lupron to suppress too? I think that it is good for emotional reasons to keep at it. How many eggs did you get last time?

Best of luck to you!!! You are in good hands.
