transfer tomorrow and nervous!

I have been reading posts for a couple weeks now, and this is my first time writing. This is my first IVF and I had 5 eggs retrieved, only 2 fertilized using ICSI. My transfer is tomorrow if all goes well. I'm so nervous and I can't seem to think about anything else. I teach fifth grade and am surrounded by other people's kids all day and it's just getting to me today...

My question is... with only 2 fertilized eggs, what are my chances that come tomorrow I will have embyos to transfer? Also, is it normal that I still have cramping today (retrieval 2 days ago)?

It's been nice to read all of the supportive words on this BB, so thanks!

Lisa

Hang in there!!

You need to keep positive thoughts. I just had my retrevial on 2/14 and I am still cramping and feeling bloated.

Hang in there - you will be pg sooner than you know!

Take care.

Hi Lisa
I've just gone through my first IVF with ICSI (tomorrow is my beta test) and I only had 5 eggs retrived and only 3 fertilized. Day 2, all 3 of them were at 4 cell stage (2 grade A's and 1 grade B).
I was afraid they wouldn't make it to day 3 but they all made it, although only one divided to 8 cell stage. But we transferred all 3. Did your RE tell you what quality your embies were at day 2?
I know it's so hard but try not to worry/stress too much. You don't want to restrict the blood flow to the uterus for the transfer. What's meant to be will be.
I had cramping and bloating for several days after ER so I think that's normal.
I'll be praying for your embies.
Good luck!

Lisa,
I completely understand your fears. I had 9 eggs retrieved, only 7 were mature and only 3 fertilized w/ICSI. I was a nervous wreck that they wouldn't make it to transfer. On transfer date my RE said "We don't want to risk triplets?" and so we took the suggestion and just transferred 2. He never told us the grade etc. but said we had 3 great ones. Anyway, I am pregnant so it works! They assured me at the office that they had 1 egg wonders frequently. Also, I didn't feel right as far as bloating and cramping until the 4th day after transfer. My RE suggests 3 days of rest following transfer and I took 4 which was perfect for my body.
Good luck and try not to worry. It does happen to people who feel like they've had a less than ideal cycle.
Leighann

thanks for all your kind words... My RE didn't call and tell me anything yet today, but I think no news is good news. If the two embies I have were not good enough to transfer I assume they would have called...the transfer is tomorrow!

Lisa,
I didn't get a call after the fert report either. I called them and they said they don't check on them after the first time b/c they don't want to be disturbed. I must've sounded pitiful asking them if we were still on with my 3 b/c they called back and said everything was fine. Call if you want the reassurance. If they tell you the embies don't want to be disturbed at least you asked.
You'll make it. Hang in there. LeighAnn
