Has anyone gone through 5 or more failed IVF cycles and then tried again?

This 5th cycle so far does not look good. This was the last one. If it has not worked 5 times, I am thinking how could it possibly work any other time.
Is there anyone that had 5 cycles be BFN's and keep going..hopefully to finally get a BFP and a healthy baby or babies?
Thank you in advance. I am just feeling very lost now.

Chana--
Unfortunately I have done quite a few IVF's myself and I know exactly how you feel. This is actually my 6th cycle. I'll give you a quick version...

First 4 IVF attempts...BFN's. It was so depressing and I didn't know if I could go on. Then last April, on our 5th IVF...we finally got a BFP. We were so excited and found out we were pregnant with twins. It was a boy and a girl! We were very excited but unfortunately at 22 weeks and 4 days I lost them to PTL. It was the most devastating thing I have ever gone through. It was worth it though and I am so glad that we tried again.

Now we are on day 5 of stims in our 6th IVF attempt. I am a nervous wreck and terrified that it may not work. I don't think I can take any more disappointment.

Have you thought about switching RE's and getting a second opinion regarding your cycles. It may be that another RE may see something that should be changed. I switched after my 3rd failed attempt and I am so thankful that I did. Don't give up on this cycle too quickly. Hopefully you will get a great surprise! Hang in there and good luck! Shanna

(PG/Babies Ment.!!)

Chana,

I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. I guess I debating writing this, but wanted to show you how much of a roulette game IVF really is . . .

We did 6 attempts between IVF's and FET's. We are one of the fortunate ones that it worked the second time (with twins nonetheless), but then we had a miscarriage and three failed attempts AFTER that. So I guess my point being that we just don't know WHICH cycle might work and might not work. We hit it one out of six. I would say if you have the intestinal fortitude, the emotional stability and the financial security, I would say to go for it again.

I agree with the post regarding who know which cycle will work. Just to add my story...5 fresh IVF cycles, 1 DE all negative. Why? No answers. Adopted our wonderful dd and then 6 weeks later found out that I was pg...no treatment! Hope this helps you find the strength to keep going in which ever direction you choose to fulfilling the dream of parenthood!
Good luck

Just a quick "add-on":

I've done seven embryo transfers in total, four fresh cycles and three FET's. Three bfp's but early miscarriages of various sorts.

We're going for IVF #5 this summer, God willing. I wish I could explain how or where we get the reserves to do this, but I honestly don't know. I just know that with each bfn or loss, I swear I'm done and I'll never get my hopes up again, and then a few days later, I begin thinking about tx. all over again. Believe me, I'm not naive about it. But my RE has said it's worth trying again, my dh really wants me to try again, and my acu. is very upbeat about our chances. I keep thinking there's a reason God keeps putting these "opportunities" in front of me . . . so here we go again.

Hoping and praying for a bfp this time . . .

Dear Chana,

I dont have a personal success story to share with you however I do know of a girl on the Aussie section of FT's that has had 6 IVFs and numerous FET's and has now just got a BFP (on her 6th fresh one). There is also another Aussie on another BB who just got a BFP after 7 fresh cycles. I agree with the others though, its really up to your individual situation with the emotional and financial aspects. I would really recommend getting a second opinion, even though I havent had success yet when I changed RE's (and protocols) my cycle was vastly improved (number and quality of eggs).
All the very best whatever you decide to.

Kim

I can't think of her username, but there's a gal here who did 7 failed IVF's & got a BFP on her 8th attempt! There's another lady who did 6 IVF's before she got a BFP.

I saw another post of yours that your RE is already trying to prepare you for the worst. May I just him right now??? What's wrong with him??? Right now, you have every reason to stay positive. I've seen ladies who have had all the cards stacked against them & yet they've overcome all the odds & ended up having a healthy pregnancy & their miracle baby in their arms 9 months later!!

Hang in there sweetie!! I will NOT give up on you or your little ones!!!

Karen

Jennifer,
I agree with the others. Don't give up yet.
I think it is good that you are thinking about your future b/c if this one does work maybe you'll want to try again too.
I would suggest trying a new RE and if you have the emotional and financial strength GO FOR IT!
I am praying for you.
