retrieval day poll

What cycle day does your retreival happen? I am totally new to this IVF game. I'm trying to plan my days off of work. Also, do you go back to work after retrieval, but before transfer? Any feedback would be welcome!!

If you've had more than one IVF cycle, you can choose more than one option.

thanks ladies!

Hi, I stimmed 11 days the 1st time and 10 days the 2nd time. I cannot remember what cycle day I started stims on though. This time I start on day 3, so that would be CD 15 or 16. I was totally fine after the retrieval. A bit sore that day, but still able to drive carpools and shuttle kids to after school activities, so you should be fine to go back to work. I even exercised between retrieval and transfer. I know how hard it is not knowing your dates and trying to make plans. Good luck!

Dear Audrey's mom,

I don't think you can definitively plan your days off. You will know the day before your retrieval and day before tranfer. Hopefully you have a job where you can be flexible about your days off. My employer has been wonderful through all of this.

Good luck to you.

My retrival is Thursday. I booked off Wed because we have to travel to the clinic and I wanted a day to get prepped for everything. I am also going to my massage therapist and acupuncturist on Wed. I decided to book off straight through until next Thurs. It is hard to book time off where I work. So as soon as I found out dates. I booked days off for vacation. A couple of days were not available, so I requested them as sick time. (sounds strange I know, but that's what happens because of my job and the labour laws here)

I figured I needed a holiday from work and this was a very good excuse!

Hi, I couldn't use the poll becuase each time it's been so diffrent.
cycle 1 retrival was day 15, cycle two retrival was day 12, cycle 3 retrival was day 10. Each due to different drugs, e2 levels and so on.
As for after retrival time 1 was not bad up and about. Time two was ouch... really sore, time 3 was middle of the road.
I can only say just listen to your body, it'll tell you what you need
Best wishes
Kelly

You'll know the day of your trigger shot that you'll have retrival 2 days later so hopefully that will be enough notice because it could go a day or so on either side of the predicted day. So if they tell you on Monday to trigger that night you know you'll need to take Wednesday off, etc. I took retrival day off because after the sedation they don't want you to drive for 24 hours. Besides, I was a little sore, etc. After that it's business as usual for the next 2 days until transfer.

Every RE is different and every patient is different. So follow your dr instructions and do what you're comfortable with doing.

Good luck!

Lisa
