Retrieval?

I asked this question on another board and I was advised to ask you ladies. My DH and I have started a DE IVF cycle the week of the 14th. Our donor's retrieval is set for Wednesday. Our IVF coordinator called today and they bumped it up to Monday. Why would they do this? Also, what is protocol for the day of the retrieval for DH and I? Thanks!

Hi!

Retrieval dates for IVF are an estimate. The actual date depends upon how quickly you respond to the meds and how your follicles grow. Once you have a few follicles around 18mm, and your E2 level is good in accordance with the number of follicles you have, they trigger you and approx. 36 hours later you go to retrieval. Your donor's follicles were probably big enough this morning that they wanted to trigger tonight and retrieve on Monday. Nothing to worry about.

As to your other question, I'm not sure. Your coordinator or RE should give you instructions on that. I would think you need to start PIO injections, but not sure. Other ladies may have the answer to that one.

Good luck with your transfer! Please let us know how things go!

Robin

Hi!
I answered the 1st part of your question on the Donor bb, but will answer the 2nd part of your question. The day of retrieval, your DH will do his part & that's it! You most likely have started taking PIO or another form of progesterone & if not, you'll start taking it the day of retrieval. Then you just sit & wait for fertilization report & then wait for your transfer!! That's it!

Good luck! Be sure to come back here & let us know how many eggs you get & when your transfer will be done, ok?

Karen

All we had to do on retrieval day was drop off DH's sample. They called me the next day with the retrieval and fertilization numbers.

Also, I said on the donor board that we had schedule changes. To be more specific, my donor was pushed up 2 days and that had happened to me in my own IVF cycles. You just don't know how much your body is going to respond to the drugs. It's totally normal. Nothing to worry about!
