    FET failure - reasons?

I had my first FET with a normal embryo. My RE said it had an 85% chance of implanting, but it didn't. I'm looking for reasons this might have happened. Here were my labs before transfer E2 435 Progesterone 1.7 LH 17.78 Does anyone know if these are acceptable values for transfer? Any other ideas on what went wrong or other tests to have before my next transfer?

Hi first I am very sorry for you failed FET Did you ever have a endometrial biopsy? I have heard that it sometimes helps with implantation. Failed FET's can be due to many reasons..... What tests have you had done, besides PGD?

jkph-Sorry about your recent bfn with your FET. Unfortunately, sometimes there is no reason to why it did not work. Just like in couples who conceive naturally. It can take them 3-6 months before they get that bfp. Like Heart said, you can have the endo "scratch" or biopsy done and it is supposed to help with implantation. Also, when they go in for the scratch, maybe your RE would look at the uterus to see if all looks normal.. I just had a hysteroscopy and hsg before my last retrieval.. Just an idea.

How many "normal" blast do you have left? I am sure next time will yield that bfp!

Thanks Faith. I am going to ask for the endometrial biopsy. I have 4 normal blasts left. 3 of them are C grade one is a B. My RE said it doesn't matter what quality they are since they are normal. I am beginning to wonder if that is true. Then again, I only tried once. Maybe next time?

Definitely try again. It usually takes 2-3 cycles for most. Only the uber lucky ones get it right the first time

It took me 4 high-quality blasts to end up with 1 success. I don't know that the other 3 were "normal" or not but given their quality and my age and hormone results it's likely that 75% of them were good (so 3/4).

    But they still didn't stick.

Sometimes the only reason is "we don't know yet because science doesn't yet know everything".

Keep trying. Endometrial biopsy can only help, so go for it. I believe your RE is correct and you're going to be pregnant very soon.

    Thanks Impatient

I thought getting the normal embryos was the hard part. I feel pretty silly now remembering the conversations my DH and I have had about where we were going to put the 5 kids I thought we had enough normals to have a few kids. Now I am wondering if I do have one and don't have any left if I will be able to have any more kids. I can't imagine that I could churn out normals for much longer. Maybe I should discuss this with my RE. Then again, I am getting pretty far ahead of myself

jkph- I have had the same silly thoughts. Each IVF, wondering how will I manage twins. HA! We have to have that positive outlook though. It is important to our sanity. Right now, all we can do is concentrate on having one and worry about the rest later.
I think it makes total sense to do another FET with at least 3 (your RE may recommend all 4) and see what happens. Have you always been with the same RE? You may want to consider finding another RE later on (but I know you will get that bfp next time)!
When I started feeling hopeless and such, that's when I switched. Gave me a new found hope..

    jkph,

I'm so sorry your FET wasn't successful. I have to agree with the other girls regarding endometrial biopsy/scratch. I've been reading a lot about it recently and interviewed Dr. Laurence Jacobs at FCI in Chicago about it too. There are so many factors that go into a successful pregnancy it amazes me that anyone ever gets pregnant!

    Best of luck to you!
    Kim
