Shapeshifter - wow, those are pretty staggering statistics! 53% higher chance of stillbirth or death when using multiple embryo transfers?! My first IVF resulted in a miscarriage/stillbirth at 17 weeks. I ended up going into labor and had to deliver. It was horrible. So for my next IVF cycle, I was adamant about doing a single transfer, and it worked.

I switched jobs last year and of course insurance plans too. My current plan doesn't cover follistim so my Doc prescribed gonal instead. He said they were very similar. I'm a little nervous because follistim worked for me last time. Anyone tried both follistm and gonal? What's the difference?

    I found this:
As far as I can tell, they are not much different. From The Couple's Guide to In Vitro Fertilization (by Liza Charlesworth):

    Follistem, Gonal F:
These two popular brands are very similar. Both are genetically engineered in a lab and so they contain fewer impurities and are more consistent from batch to batch than those derived from postmenopausal urine. These medications contain follicle stimulating hormone, but no luteinizing hormone.
I've never used either. My RE had me use Bravelle, but I think it is pretty much the same as the others.

Anyone here have DOR? Just wanted to share this:
DHEA Fertility Treatment for Women with Infertility :: CHR

I just ordered some DHEA. I found a product call Fertinatal, which is 25mg micronized plant-derived DHEA specifically made for DOR. You take 3 a day. It's expensive though, so I found a different product that appears to be the same and I ordered a bottle: Amazon.com: Pure Encapsulations DHEA 25 mg 180 vcaps: Health & Personal Care

Thinking I probably have 4-6 weeks before egg retrieval, so hoping it will be long enough to make a difference. Just wanted to share. Of course do your own research before taking it.

The appointment with the new RE was a complete waste of time! Their lab is not contracted with my insurance, so I would have to pay twice as much as I was expecting to pay out of pocket for an IVF cycle. And to be honest, I didn't get the warm fuzzies after meeting the RE either. She was actually somewhat arrogant.

Anywho, I left a message with the clinic that has my embryo. I told them I needed to get a lab slip for the day 3 FSH that my insurance requires. But I need to get to the lab tomorrow since AF arrived yesterday. Hopefully it won't be a problem. I also asked the insurance lady to get per-cert for an IVF cycle. And finally I emailed the RE's assistant and told her that I needed some direction and wanted to speak to the RE about doing a fresh combined with a frozen cycle for better chances that it will work. I just need to be more vocal with them about what I need.

Nyc76- just catching up on last weeks thread... I have used both Gonal-f and follistim. I really didn't notice any difference between them and got almost the exact number of eggs from both cycles so don't worry.

Tammy- sorry for the wasted time and effort at the other RE. Dog-gone insurance always screws us up! I agree about being more vocal with your RE. I always tell mine what I am thinking and what I am questioning about my cycles. Actually, at my last wtf meeting, I said " do you guys have like a buy 3 get 1 free policy"? Lol. He actually said I did deserve a discount! Anyway, so far I have not paid a penny for this FET and haven't received any insurance EOB slips. I think he's giving a freeby!( sort of, I still have my meds to pay).

NYC- I always take follistim, menopur, and ganirelix. However, TONS of women are on gonal-f, bravelle, etc. All the same stuff, just different names. Kinda like claritin vs Allegra. Don't even think twice about it. That is the least of your worries during this whole process.

Heart-- hope you are doin okay! Been checking on you on your other thread too. I am officially off Bcp and just on Lupron now. If you wanted to move me down on the list.

Afm- **child ments** Getting ready for our family trip to DC. Booked all my dinner reservations. Having sushi, Greek, Indian, and Russian restaurants lined up. We leave early Sat morning flight. Today and tomorrow I signed my DS for a college summer 2 day course for dissecting things / animal. He is very interested in science. Friday morning is my weekly labs/us and hopefully start the estrogen protocol on the 16th. Praying everything in my labs are correct to move forward. My dirty little friend progesterone shouldn't screw me up this time!!
