Does your mind ever wander while you Pray/Read Quran?

This is something that really buggs me when it happens, especially when I get "bad" or "weird" thoughts that just come at me when I'm praying, making duwaa or reading Quran. I've gotten better with controlling it, but sometimes my mind may wander. I have heard though that this is very normal and happens to lots of people. Does it happen to you? Do you have ways to avoid it or do we just have to deal with it? I hope I'm not the only one here who that happens to!

Don't worry, you are not the only one!!! It happens to me while praying, dua, reading Quran or even at the masjid attending the Friday prayers! Subhaana Allah.

I catch many times myself, and try to concentrate.

That happens to me when I'm reading scriptures. I find that if at the end of each passage I stop and explain the passage to myself, my mind doesn't wander.

You may have riches and wealth untold, caskets of jewels and baskets of gold, but richer than I you never will be, for I had a mother who read to me.

Thanks. It's good to know I'm not the only one. It's true we must catch ourselves and say what Twinsmom mentioned.

Thanks for sharing! good point to remember. Usually if I read few pages, I concentrate, but if I am reading few chapters, then my minds start wandering. I think it depends, if I allocated special time after the prayers or just a quite time just to read, then it is easy to concentrate.

This happens to me a lot, actually. My concentration varies on the day and what's going on in my life. With prayer, we are never "supposed" to allow our minds to wander- we are supposed to be solely praying for God (to have our minds only on Him). However, my mind wanders a lot. Sometimes, I say a little prayer before reading the quran that asks that God please clear my mind and allow me to full accept His will and His message.

Thanks for your post!
