Joasiax, I hope you have a great IUI today!! Keep us posted!!
Trytryagain, have you discussed with your RE about moving on to Injectables? I know it is a lot more expensive, but it increases your odds. I have used both methods, and prefer the injectables. Will you get your lab results back today or will they make you wait till tomorrow? I used to work for Quest diagnostics and had the luxury of ordering my HCG tests STAT. Im not sure if the clinical trial will give me the results the same day or the next. I As far as testing at home, not sure when I will start.........try to hold out as long as possible.
AFM, had my post IUI U/S this morning, and I must say, Im a tad bit in shock. Looks like I released a total of 5 follicles.........the day before the IUI, we estimated only 2......I think the timing may not have been right. We did it about 27 hours after the trigger. I guess we will have the answer in about a week........

Well, I went in today for a bloodtest to see if the IUI worked--NEGATIVE. Darn, I really thought this time it might have worked because I didn't get my period yet and I usually get it early.
Yes, I think I may have to start thinking about moving on to injectables. How do these work? How many shots do you have to take? when?
Well, my fingers are crossed for you! I hope you get a BFP soon!

Once again, Im soooo sorry, I know how devastating a failed cycle is....I have had many of them. The first cycle of injectables, I was on Clomid as well. This was back in 2009, so I can't recall the exact days and amounts of each. I believe it was clomid 100mg cd 3-7 along with 75IU daily of Menopur. (injectable) I stimulated pretty fast. 7 days from beginning of meds to IUI. The clinical trial that I am involved in, uses Menopur alone. At the beginning of the study, the computer chose which treatment I would receive. The 3 meds were, Clomid, Menopur, and the trial drug Letrozole. The purpose of the study is to determine if Letrozole has the same or greater chance of conception without the risk of multiples.
For me, injectables are no big deal. Some women find it hard, almost impossible to stick themselves. The stick it's self is not painful, you use a very small, thin needle, but the solution you dilute the Menopur with, burns a little as you inject it, it's saline (salt water) You give yourself one injection daily subcuatneously........which is a fancy word for in your fat!!! The recommended site is in the abdomen. Normally, you will go in on CD1 for a baseline U/S. If all is well, you will begin meds on CD 3. With injectables, you are monitored more frequently. About every other day. According to your progress, your RE will either up your dose or keep it the same. Most women stimulate in approx 12 days. So I guess you are looking at at least 10-12 shots per cycle. Plus the trigger.
As far as your husband, have you started him on a multivitamin?? When we first found out we had some mild male issues, I put my husband on one Cheap HEB brand) and to my surprise, it actually improved his numbers. Could of been a fluke, who knows.........

Trytryagain...so sorry to hear about the bad news. I know it's really devastating. It's hard hoping that this is the month and getting the bad news. Sending you
Bkaupert...congratulations. I’m glad to hear you had some success. How many iuis have you done?
Thanks for the good luck wishes. I really appreciate it. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but also wishing that it would be a positive. It would be the best Christmas gift ever.
Plus yesterday I found out that my sister in law is pregnant AGAIN....I’m happy for her but at the same time really really sad.

Joasiax21: So glad to hear your IUI went well. I completely understand how you feel about hearing your sister in law is expecting again. When we were trying for #2, I had a friend who had two kiddos during that time period!!! She is one of my dearest friends, but I found it hard, almost impossible to be around her. She tried to be supportive of what I was going through, but was clueless.
We began trying to conceive in 2007. Eight months in, we got pregnant(on our own) on our second clomid cycle. Unfortunately, I miscarried due to a blighted ovum. Jan 2009 we did our first IUI with Clomid, but it was not successful. About 8 months later we did another IUI with injectables. That resulted in the birth of our Son, he is now 15 months old. I am currently involved in a research study for unexplained infertility. This is our second cycle. The will do a total of four, so we are hoping we get lucky again!!

Bkaupert--Hi, I just got back from going out of town for Thanksgiving. Did you do your bloodtest yet to find out if you are pregnant or not? I was wondering how you were!
I got my period on Wednesday when we had to leave to my in-laws so I didn't get to go in to do my baseline tests. So I'm sitting this month out. I hope my ovaries calm down on their own if they were over-stimulated again after the clomid and trigger shot. I didn't do birth control pills this month like my dr. had me do the month before this one to calm them down. I'm hoping they calm down on their own so that we can do another iui round next month.
Well, good luck to you! Please keep me informed
