IUI Success with low morphology!

Anyone out here have success with IUI when dh has low morphology?? If so, were you on clomid, injectables, etc...

I am having an IUI this month and haven't had success with them yet but am looking for some hope! I am going on clomid, gonal f, and ovidrel. My dh has good count(166 mil) and pretty good motility(50%) but morphology is low(17%).

lila - I was so excited when I saw your post, thinking that you had achieved success...

I too have this issue - good count, but low morphology, even lower than yours (4%). I actually think the cutoff for "low" is 14%. So you aren't looking too bad.

My doctor's office tells me that IUI is what they recommend for low morphology, because the sperm washing cleans out the bad ones and the IUI gets the good ones closer to the target. So you are on the right track. I saw an acupuncturist today for the first time and she drew a little graph about how your chance of getting pregnant goes up over several IUI cycles, but your hopes go down. Keep the hopes up!

Hi Ladies, I too have the same issue good count but poor morphology even lower at 2%. We just did out first IUI on the 14th and will test on the 28th. I will keep you posted though, I have read many forums where couples with the same issues got pregnant with their first try of IUI so there is definitely hope. Good luck!!!

My DH has low morp, had 7 IUI's that were BFN (I also have PCOS, so it is a double wammy for us.), but did get a natural pg! DH takes many vitamins/supplements a day, and his numbers have really improved.

Smiles- Congrats on the natural pg! What vitamins/supplements is your dh on? Mine takes fertilaid and eats raw pumpkin seeds. I am having my IUI on Sunday so we'll see how it's helped. I just bought Saw Palmetto today so he'll be taking that too.

Hey Lila! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I had to get my DH to id everything for me. How were the numbers today?

Here is what he takes:
Ginseng
L-Carnitine
a general multi vitamin
Arginine
Catuaba
B-12
CoQ10

I also thought he took Zinc, but maybe not. Hope this helps!

Thanks Smiles, I just added Saw Palmetto to my dh's regimen b/c it helps to increase sperm count and motility. We'll see. We had our IUI and the S/A was not what I was hoping for. I just don't get how it can drastically change. I wish it weren't so complicated!

Lilia-I am sorry the numbers weren't what you were hoping for. How long has been taking the supplements? It took about 3-4 months for us to see improvement.

Hoping this IUI was a success and you don't have to worry much longer!

Smiles- Dh has been on so many supplements for about 2 years. He was on L-Carnatine, L- arginine(sorry about spelling), vitamin c, zinc, and a multi-vitamin. That formula was for over a year with no difference, then chinese herbs and no difference. He's been on the fertilaid for almost 3 months. He had a S/A about a month ago and we saw a huge improvement on his count, 166 million, but on IUI day it was only 14 million. I just don't get it! Ugh!!!

I do hope that this is the one, post wash there were 7 million, 32% motility, and 23% morphology. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!!
