    Is This Cycle Benched?

    Hello again,

I hope when you read this you are the best of spirits.

I just need to vent I guess. My RE is really starting to annoy me. She benched me last month due to possible hyprtension she saw back in July. Which turned out to be nothing, Dr. said I showed no syptoms so it should not be effecting fertility.

This month she tells me come in for my 3 day sono, she want's to start me on Follistim, but can't treat me until the insurance sitiuation is straightened out, they have not been paid yet and I've been going there since July. I had no idea what she was talking about. So I called the billing dept. and they could not believe she refused to treat me.

Well it turns out they screwd up, they submit claims electronically and there was a problem with claims getting to my insurance. I spoke to my insurance and they said nothing that has been submitted has been denied, and that they have received nothing from that office.

Anyway, the point is she has me on bcp's until this is straightened out. It's only been a week, and her office admitted it was their fault and they're gonna speak to her to get me seen. Do I still have a chance? Would the pills work from day 3 to suppress my ovaries? AAAARRRGH!!!

    Thanks,
    Desiree

I'm sorry I never attempted to answer the initial question. I was so stunned that your Dr blew you off due to insurance, before even having it checked out. I don't know the answer to that. But I'm so glad you're pursuring a new one. Can you imagine if you were well into a cycle and your Dr decided to just stop treating you due to insurance? I'd never trust the Dr again.

I really feel for you. This was not fair and very frustrating. Let us know what happens.

    Hi Dawn,

I am currently with American Fertility Services, but I'm now considering Advanced Fertility services. They both call themselves AFS.

Ironically, I left my ob/gyn on my own and found American, but when I called and asked who they would have sent me to, it was Dr. Hugh Melnick at Advanced. They gave me a Manhattan office, but I found Dr. Ditkoff was in White Plains. So I'm going to call tomorrow.

Where in NY are you? I see you are a medical secretary, so was I. I think that's what upset me more, because I'm familiar with billing and patient relations.

Let me know how things go!!!

Thanks Karen, this board helps keep me sane (somewhat)!

Hi I live in (Queens). Where do you live? I am currently going to Reproductive Specialist of New York they are in Long Island. I have another appointment with Long Island Fertility & Endocrinology IVF Associates. I had heard some good things about this office from other boards. I figured I would give them a try.

    Serenity -
Although this is far from you, Dr. Bronson in Stonybrook is great. He is the head of the program in Stonybrook hospital. I am very hapy with him and have heard of many positive results through him.
