IUI Success - Clomid vs. Injections

I would like to see how many people have had success with IUI and Clomid vs. IUI and injections.

Injectibles for me. But that was most likely more of an egg quality issue than anything else. Though I did produce 2-4 follies with injectibles and only 1 per Clomid cycle.

I am unexplained but have age factor.

I did 3 cycles of Clomid + IUI, all BFN. I watched my cm dry up and endometrium get thinner and thinner. And still only produced 1 mature follie/cycle.

I switched to injectables, got a BFP second time around. (It turned to **** when betas didn't double, but it was a BFP nevertheless.) I have MUCH better cycles on injectables - good follie numbers (6-8), good lining, good hormone levels.

I will never do Clomid again, and will tell anyone who listens no to do it either.
Injectables are more $$$$$ but well worth it!

I didn't vote because I didn't know which one to choose. I was a good responder to Clomid (although the side effects stunk). The cycle I got a BFP on, I was taking Clomid days 5-9 and had one good lead follicle with 4 more that were lagging behind. They had me do injectibles day 10 & 11 to help the laggers catch up. I ended up with 4 mature follies the day of the HCG shot and when they checked after my IUI, 3 had released. It resulted in a singleton pregnancy.

    sullihs,

Never heard of both on the same cycle.

I guess my hypothesis is that inj. are better, not just from the number of follies responded, but also egg quality.

I just came back from the RE and there were so many on the left side that they were hard to count because they were on top of eachother.

I use clomid days 3-7 and then a hcg shot (10,000) two days before the IUI.

    RedSands when is your IUI?

    Lisa,

I don't know yet. Going in again tomorrow. Looks like we will at least get 4 follies from the injections. Not going back to clomid...didn't really do anything.

I've only done clomid and got BFNs and produces only 1 or two nice-sized follies each time. I am switching to Femara for 3 months after this cycle and then onto injections before trying IVF. I just had my 2nd IUI yesterday...

Redsands, My RE had been trying to get me to move onto inj. and I wasn't ready (cost and chance of multiples). We did one IUI with Femara but I only produced one follie. He wanted me to switch back to Clomid since I usually had 2-3 good follies for the 2nd IUI. When I came in for my u/s on day 10, he talked me into doing injections that night and the next to help the other follies catch up to the lead one. I did 3 vials (75iu) of Monogan each night. When I did the trigger on day 12, I had a 20,18,18 & 16. The treatment did sound a little strange to me, but it worked so I guess he knew what he was doing. Wishing you all the best.

I've had success twice with clomid and IUI. The first was ectopic (there's no explanation) and the second is still brewing.
