Positive Thoughts for Positive Results (Pg mentioned)
Hey all,
Some of you may know my history. Suffice it to say for those of you who don't that it is long and full of medical fun. My fertility issues are just a byproduct of massive congenital urinary tract problems, a missing kidney, and cancer at age 19 (and chemo and radiation and surgery). Hubby and I have been together for over 8 years and have been married over 4. According to docs I'm as normal as I can be considering my history and lack of a left ovary. Hubby had a double varicocele repair that failed and left him with the same morphology problems as before. We had our first IUI in June which resulted in a positive test and three days of glee. On July 4, 2005 I had emergency surgery to repair the ectopic pregnancy which had begun to bleed into my abdomen. That's a kind of pain that I don't wish on anybody and has only been beat in my life by my cancer pain. On September 15, 2005 we had our second IUI. On the 14th we had an ultrasound and HCG shot trigger. All was well--I had two healthy eggs. The IUI #2 went off without a hitch. Like last time, I knew I was pregnant by two weeks post-IUI. It's just a gut feeling like AF is coming, but without the cramping. Just pressure. Last night I took two pregnancy tests (over the counter kits) and both came back positive. Today I had my betas drawn. I'm crossing my fingers that all is well. Next week I'll have my first ultrasound to make sure it's not ectopic again. If it is, I lose my only good fallopian tube. I'm crossing my fingers for all good things... Just wanted to share my good news even if it's with some hesitation. Last time turned out to be so physically painful that I fear that feeling more than losing the tube or a m/c. Crossing my fingers. Thanks for listening.
