Hi ladies. I am FREAKING OUT! I am 10 DPO/IUI and I'm so freaked.
I know that is way EARLY to be taking an HPT, but I CAVED! So 8 DPO in the afternoon I got a neg, yesterday (9DPO) in the afternoon. I got an ever so light positive..almost just a shadow of a line..barely there. This morning same thing as yesterday. So about 20 minutes ago I bought a different brand and took another one and it was neg.
I know that it's early...but has anyone had this experience? The first two tests were e.p.t., the third was CVS brand. Why didn't I just spend the extra 5 bucks! OY!
Anyone?

Jan,
According to this web site: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hpt.html
The CVS stick test is more sensitive (25mIU) than the e.p.t. (40mIU). The CVS cartiridge is less sensitive at 50mIU.
Did you test too early? Here is their Q&A on that subject:
Q: How soon after ovulation can I test?
A: The earliest you can get a positive result on the most sensitive pregnancy tests is seven days after ovulation. Implantation needs to occur before hCG is produced, and that generally happens between 6-12 days post ovulation, usually by 10 days after. For this reason, it makes economical sense to wait until 10-12 days after ovulation, but even then a significant percentage of women who are indeed pregnant will still show a negative result. If you have not had an hCG injection (common in fertility treatment, brands include Profasi, Pregnyl and Novarel), you can believe the positive, but you might get a false negative. If your period is late, test again. Your hCG levels should double every 2-3 days and many people won't have a positive HPT until the first day of a missed period or even a few days later.
Good luck!

So since the e.p.t. was slightly positive and I used the CVS cartridge rather than the stick, I can assume that the ept test could be sensitive enough to detect the lower level of HCG and the CVS isn't. Is that what I'm reading? I'm trying not to read too much into it because it's still early...but how can I help not getting a bit excited???

(pg mentioned)
I am 16dpiui and I used a CVS cartridge this morning before I had my beta. I got a very faint positive, so faint that I didn't know what to think about the result. I got my beta results back this afternoon and my numbers were 155. That said, I wouldn't trust the negative result you got from that CVS test. Plus hcg is much more concentrated in the morning (when you took your other tests). I would buy another good test and take it first thing tomorrow morning since you will be 11 dpo/iui. I will be hoping the best for you!

pg ment.
I took 4 tests the night of 11dpiui (2 clearblue easy early result, 1 25iu hcg test I bought on-line, and a FRED test). The first 3 came back faint +, the last one -. My beta the next day was 150-ish.
Good luck!!!

I agree I think you are just dealing with different brands that detect different amounts.
I would be
if I were you.

Janere...I would wait another day or two and test again with first morning urine. This will drive you crazy now, won't it! Hang in there and keep us posted. Hoping and praying that you get your BFP very soon! Hugs and prayers!

please don't mind me budding in, I am desperately trying to search for anyone else in the same boat as me. My dumb thermomator broke around ovulation so I don't know my exact days, I am somewhere between 13-15 DPO most likely 15 DPO if I ovulated when I usually do, but possibly later b/c I was under lots of stress. Anyways I tested this morning and it was really really really faint, I tried again at noon and it was even lighter (understandable b/c it wasn't first morning urine) anyways I was interested in hearing your beta, I just got my blood taken and am anxiously awaiting the results tomorrow, can you tell me how quick your light positive came up? Mine took a while! not right away, but I THINK it was w/in the 3-10min time frame, I wasn't really watching the clock, just running around from light to light trying to get a better angle. Did they tell you what numbers your beta should be between? this is killing me!!!!

I'm only 11 DPO so I haven't done a BETA yet.
And I also learned that the e.p.t. can have false positives, which is the same test that I came up positive with. http://www.peeonastick.com you can read all about it.
Good luck to you, please come back and post your results!
