Update on Visit today - IUI Fri/Sat

Go in today for u/s after two more days of meds. I have FIVE follicles all about the same and ready to go. So, the nurse said, I was right on the brink of what he would cancel due to the risk of multiples. And asked me how I felt about multiples, etc. as she knew he'd ask her if she'd talked to me about that. I can handle two, I have twin nieces 19 months old. They are not easy, I know that. But I am also realistic in knowing how hard they are and can be. However, triplets and beyond scares me. Not just from the standpoint of how much work it'd be but for fear of something being wrong, birth defects, high risk pregnancy, etc.

Anyway, the dr. said his gut tells me to go for it and not to cancel it. He thinks I responded better after having had the laparoscopy and ovarian diathermy. This is also the last chance we have, we hae decided we can't do it anymore. Our next step would be IVF, which we don't want to do, or adoption - which isn't without it's own ups and downs. So, the dr. said go for it. I said, I really dont want five. He said given my history, our actual chances of success, etc. he doesn't think that'll happen, but there is a definite risk of multiples. So, we're doing it. DH is okay w/it. I mean, even if there were more than two, you never know, things happened. My sister in law got pregnant w/twins recently and one was lost (called vanishing twin syndrome). So, you just don't know. I feel like it'll work out regardless and to be able to close this chapter of fertility in my life would be more than I can invision!

Thoughts?

Good luck with everything. I also just had IUI (4/19 and 4/20) and had the posibilty of 5 eggs releasing...so I'm kind of in the same boat as you. They did not believe we needed to worry about more than 2, but also didn't say it was impossible. Good luck and keep us posted. We'll be in the 2ww together!

HCG TRIGGER

Girls,

You get the hCG trigger shot the day BEFORE IUI right? I thought the nurse said give it today at 4:30 (ai tomorrow at 9:30), but I wrote it in my calendar for tomorrow, I don't think that's right. I think I just accidentally wrote it in the wrong day!

In my experience, I have always had to do it somewhere between 36-40 hrs before the IUI.
