Question about HSG & Ovulation!

Hi ladies,

It's been a while since I've been on this board! Glad to be back in the game after 5 failed IUI's and a failed adoption.

On March 24th I had an HSG done, they found that my right tube was blocked. They got it opened up! All of my blood work came back good! I am not being medicated.

So my question is this...is it possible for the HSG to have pushed everything back timing wise? I normally have 28-29 day cycles, I should have ovulated between cycle days 13-17. I have been using OPK"S since March 28th cd 11 all of the test have been negative and today is cd 17 still negative. Starting to wonder if I am going to ovulate or not (something that to my knowledge I have never had trouble with) I should be starting my next cycle around the 16th of this month.

Does anyone happen to know if this is normal after having an HSG, the Dr. who did the procedure didn't say anything about something like this happening just that I would be really fertile for the next several cycles.

Hi Rose,

I am no special guru on this.

1st, have you used opk's before and found you do get positive opk's and do ovulate? If so then I would probably say the sstress of the situation could make you ovulate late.

On the other hand your body went thruogh a little chance with unblocking the tube and may not ovlate this mo due your body probably called a time out.

Always best to ak the dr. or hope fully hear from some one who has experienced it first hand.

I have used OPK's in the past and gotten positive results. However it has been a really long time since using them. When we did our IUI's that Dr. had me doing BBT not OPK's this Dr. wants me to do OPK's not BBT. There is also a lack of cervical fluid this cycle. Not normal at all. I plan to call Dr. and see what he thinks, was just curious if anyone has had similar cycles after having HSG.

I just had my HSG and it didn't mess up my O day. But then again both my tubes were clear and everything looked great or so he says anyway. good luck with a postive soon..mindy

Welcome back! I don't see how an hsg would alter your cycle.
I've never had good luck with OPK's. I've heard of many cases where the test never showed ov but a blood test showed ov was imminent.

Ive had a HSG, and it never affected my O. but everyone is so different, BUT I have had trouble w/OPK in the past, sometime I wonder if there sensitive enough?

I got a positive OPK this morning cd 18! Have to call Dr. this am and get scheduled for IUI tomorrow!!
