Question about HCG shot

I have not done an IUI yet, but am planning on trying it in two cycles. I am taking a much needed break next cycle. Currently we are doing Clomid with a HCG shot and then 3 days of bms. This cycle I went in last Wed (CD 10) and had two leftover follicles and nothing else big enough. I went back on Fri and the leftovoers has started growing again and were 21 and 25 and I had 3 smaller follicles that were 11,12 & 13. My b/w showed that I was about to ovulate to they gave me my HCG shot. I went back the next Wed (cd 17) and 3 follicles has released their eggs. My question is...Can the HCG shot make a follicle release that it not mature. I thought they had to be between 17-21 to be considered mature. I don't see how my 13 could have been mature and released in that short period of time. Also, has anyone else had leftover follicles that were inactive at the beginning of their cycle but started to grow again?

My clinic says anything over 12 could potentially release an egg. Also since the egg doesn't release instantly with the trigger, your 13 may have grown a little before releasing. Good luck!

I guess it depends on how big the "inactive follicles" were at the start of the tx. I have had little follies at the start that became lead follicles. I couldn't tell you how big they were as my doctor won't measure anything smaller than 10mm.
Follies grow 1-2mm per day and will grow after the trigger so the 13 may have been viable.
Yes even the immature follies can rupture with the trigger shot the eggies just aren't ripe enough to fertilize (although miracles have happened).
I had OHSS with many small follicles, after trigger I was in serious pain as those little follies ruptured and spilled fluid into my abdomen.

Good luck, when is your beta?

At my clinic there was a lady that had 2 18s and a 12. SHe had triplets. It is unlikely, but can happen.

Thanks for the info. I have my Beta on the 25th...a week from today and if it is negative, I will be taking a much needed break from all of this!
