New to HCG shot!

We are back after taking last month off and we are now seeing an re instead of just my gyn. So I am excited about that! I will start the clomid tomorrow on cd3 and get an hcg shot around day 12 after an u/s. My husband and I are really nervous about the hcg shot. Are there any tips you can give us? I know it is probably not as big of a deal as I have it built up to be so any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Hope everyone has been doing well! Nikki

Nikki,

I just did my first hcg shot this month (on Friday). I was soooo nervous because I hate needles and didn't know what to expect. And, I was extra nervous to have my DH do it versus a nurse or something.

Anyway, it is so easy! I barely felt it going in and befor I knew it...it was over. Just try to stay calm so you don't clench your muscles.

Good luck!
Melanie

I had two hcg shots so far. Our RE office requires us to take a class to instruct us how to give the injections. It's pretty much exactly as Heidi explained. The first shot I was so scared and nervous that I actually started crying before. When my husband finally did it, I felt almost nothing. This past one hurt a little more and I got a little nauseous from the nerves, but it went away as soon as we were done. At least I didn't cry this time. LOL. You may also want to ask your RE if they have instructional videos. Our RE gave us one and it's very detailed. They get them free from the drug companies.

My HCG shot was VERY quick and pretty much pain free.
I have a huge needle-phobia and my experience is that blood work in the arm hurts much more than the injection.

I got the HCG in my bottom/hip. It's less sensitive there and quicker than b/w for sure.

Because I have a needle-phobia, I am telling you the truth that there is nothing to worry about and the best part is you probably won't even see it happen if it's in your bottom like mine was.

The most pain may come from the spot being slightly sore for a day -- more so then the needle itself.
