    Nelson's 10th Gotcha Day

We can't believe it but Nelson has been with us 10 years now! We got him 10 years ago on May 11th, 2002. We have been very blessed with a such sweet, loving, funny, and great son! We took him to this new Mexican restaurant in the area to celebrate and he had tacos. Susan and I had Margaritas to celebrate. Wink.

Nelson is now starting to act and talks like a teenager. He's now more picky with clothes.
Otherwise, he is doing very well in 4th Grade. He also plays in a Little League baseball team along with his 9 years old brother, Cody whom I've included in a picture below.

I'd love to hear some more 10th Family Day stories from some of you. 2001 and 2002 were very busy years for Guatemala Adoption.

Hi Mark So great to hear from you. Gracie came home in June 2002. She is doing great. She too is in the 4th grade and is a good student. She is still small for her age but just lights up a room when she walks in. She is has the sweetest disposition and is so kind to everyone. How blessed we all are for having these wonderful children in our lives. Your boys have grown so much. Glad they are both doing so well. Thank you so much for posting an update. I too love to hear how the kids are all going, especially the ones that came home about the same time.

It's amazing how fast it all goes, isn't it. The boys look great.

Maia's been home 11 years now! (I missed posting about her 11 yr Family Day back in April). She's also doing great -- almost finished 6th grade and LOVING middle school (school not so much but everything else!). Right now she's swimming (summer league) and will probably do volleyball come fall (at school), basketball in the winter (she did that this year at school and loved it) and softball in the spring -- still my multisport athlete! My first "baby" is 16 now -- way taller & heavier (thankfully!) than me and is almost done with 10th grade. He's our swimmer (first) and water polo player (second).

It's been so long since we met you guys at GAFE that year....

Oh wow I can't believe that it's been 10 years and how grown up the boys both are now. I still remember meeting at chuck E cheese when Cody was still an infant, that was so long ago.

Alondra just had her 10th family day not too long ago, she is also in 4th grade. She is super involved in Drama and just finished acting in her 12th play. She is also into horse back riding, western Gymkhana (a type of Barrel racing) and we lease her a wonderful horse... though the past few weeks school has had to trump riding, this makes for a grumpy horse and grumpy rider.

I didn't realize before that Nelson came home on Mateo's birthday, a year before he was born, but it's still the day he was born May 11th was a good day for both of us
