so, I'm spending WAY too much time in the ER these days!

2 weeks ago it was 6 hrs with my dad who dropped a tree on himself as he was cutting another tree for cutting on his woodmill. he dislocated his shoulder and it took over 40 minutes to get it back in place and then an additional while until they pieced his lip back together to stitch it up. made it home just after midnight that night.

then, on my one night off with other mommies, nick called to tell me that kendell's 'jumping in leaf piles' had a drastic end to the fun. she had fallen some odd way on something and her arm was hanging by her side. he met me at the restaurant and I rode up to the er with them. just a mere 3.5 hrs later we were able to leave, to the chant of 'I want chicken nuggets and RANCH from McDonald's. she has a half cast splint right now until tomorrow when we see the ortho to actually cast it. there is a fracture just below her wrist that is slightly impacting not only the forearm bones, but also the movement of her thumb. it is still hurting, but having missed dinner, she was thankfully more focused on her stomach and then bed when we got home since bed is usually 7 and by now it was 8:30.

I was there in Dec with the miscarriage. In March with kendell's ear tubes. I spent over 8 hrs at that same ER in Feb waiting for my one tiny foster baby girl. I was there this summer with Abi for the spider bite. I'd really like a new hang out!

Sound like you should open your own medical clinic!

I've spent many nights in the ER with my niece, then Davison had to get staples in his head and a month later Gabe was there getting stitches in his face. I feel your pain......I think you need a spa day (one WITHOUT a cell phone!!!)

Don't you hate hospitals... and ER's are soooo slow. I will do pretty much anything to avoid the ER... we spent an entire easter there... 7 hours for blood work, xray and some swabs... 7 hours.

Hope you start avoiding them soon.

Mel, sorry to hear about your dad and Kendall. I hope that they are on the mend and will be good as new!

I would definitely recommend you find a new hang out soon!

Honey, as someone who has spent way too much time in the E.R. myself, over the course of Marielle's treatment.....find another hang out, would you? Really, there are much nicer spots to be known by a first name basis! Hope that the arm isn't too difficult for the doc to fix for Kendall.

Sorry to hear about all your ER visits. I hope your Dad and Kendall are both doing better and you tell the rest of your kids to be good or you'll keep them inside on the sofa!

well, Kendell is sporting a lovely bright pink cast. her orthopod was WONDERFUL....did I shout that loudly enough? he whispered to her, talked "Tinkerbell", and even (after alluding for me to permit) used old fashioned bribery with a lollipop (the good ones....tootsie pop!) to get her to move her thumb that was hurting during assessment. he had my very reticent little one nodding her head, then smiling and finally even talking a bit. she never even whimpered or denied treatment at all, it was great. he shared with her that he has 2 daughters, one is 3yr almost as big as her (remember she's so tiny?). I am very happy with her treatment, he explained the break, and really did alot for my concerns for her prenatal exposure and the potentials for her growth. we'll go back in 4 wks to xray and then probably be uncasted, but potential for 6 wks, though he thinks she'll do fine. we've only done motrin 3 times since last evening, so I think her pain is pretty managable....except when my wild child little C jumps all over her. tonight she was tired of the novelty and was banging it against the side of the toilet when she was doing potty, hoping to break it off! she's such a dear with spirit. I told her it wouldn't break, she was stuck with it til Turkey Day. maybe abi will help me to post some new pics.

so glad to hear Kendell was able to be casted without much trouble. Hope Dad is starting to do better.

Yes dear we need to get you a new hangout. As soon as my house gets germ free(Anthony is taking his turn with the crazy H1N1) I would love to get together and get you away from that ER!

Glad Kendall is feeling better -- hopefully she won't break your toilet trying to get the cast off!
