Hi!
We had our first home visit today, and it went very well! Both dh and I were a tad nervous and talked a mile a minute for the first half hour or so, but everything that came out of our mouths was good. I had made a pitcher of lemonade, but once the social worker arrived, everything else slipped into the background, and I forgot to even offer her a glass. I answered the door with a kitten in my arms who promptly decided to go running over my shoulder to escape, and a mad chase ensued. It turned out to be a nice icebreaker, however! I had been on my way to put the kitten in an upstairs bedroom when the social worker knocked at the door (so that we wouldn't be distracted by her colorful antics), so that's how I happened to be holding her.
Our next home visit is in two weeks. The timing is going to work our great. Our social worker will write up our homestudy and run it by our placement agency while we're on vacation after the second home visit. She said that she'd have it done by the time we get back. Everything is just zooming along! After four years working on adopting a child, it is still amazing me that it is actually happening!
Take care!![]()

Glad to hear it went well. That's great that she is going to get your homestudy done so quickly for you. I hope everything goes at this pace for you.

Congratulations on the first home study visit - sounds like it went very well!
Speaking of cats - five minutes after our SW arrived at our home for our home visit, our neighbour - big, brooding, cranky guy - came into our yard - jumping up and down on our deck and yelling - trying to scare his cat - who had gone under our deck - to come out.
I left the SW - looking somewhat puzzled, out our kitchen window, at this big stomping loud scary guy - with my DH to try to help the neighbour. Anyway, made no difference, of course - but it was a somewhat embarassing way to start the home visit.
