This is the big one the home visit. The s/w will meet dd and review our house.
If you have a moment at 1pm just send a calming thought/prayer for me. I know it will be fine but...
It is the dog I am most worried about, she is nuts. She goes over the top ballistic with new people. We have warned the s/w and the dog will settle after a few minutes but it is still a worry.
Thanks,

Good to see you Beth - I think we used to talk on the IUI bb? I've moved onto IVF but it this doesnt work this time, we are moving onto adoption. My cousin is adopting from China and we are still researching our options. For the first time in a long time, I am filled with hope!
RE your concern: most dogs (especially the enthusiastic ones) are great with kids! Will JJ be home? Maybe you can demonstrate how great the pooch is with her. I hope the dog is your biggest problem - I told dh today that our current doggy stained carpet and/or the bare wood underneath will not be acceptable for the home visit! BTW - how did it take to get to that point, if I might ask? Just need to plan for our flooring needs. We are still at the investigation/application stage.
Good luck! I know you will impress the SW as the wonderful parents that you are.
Take care,

We had two beagles when we did our first homestudy 5+ yrs ago. They were as calm as could be beforehand. I bought them new rawhide bones and it was the picture of serenity.
The minute the SW came in and got settled on the couch, those two dogs started fighting with e/other (growling and snapping) and then started bouncing off the couch, floor and wall. They look absolutely mentally insane! I turned bright red and tears sprang to my eyes, but the SW was nearly hysterical with laughter at how those two dogs were showing off! Turned out she had a few dogs and cats and LOVED animals! So yes, I hope your dog behaves!
Don't worry...it will be FINE!!! Let us know!Mom of 3 Wonderful Little Girls!!

We have a keeshond (cousin to the chow chow) and he is ultra hyper. When our social worker arrived, he jumped up on her. We were so embarrased and full of apologies, but thanks to God that she was so calm about it. Said it happens all of the time. When she sat down, my dog - who is 54 pounds of long haired fur- tried to sit on her lap.
He behaved so badly, but our social worker was very understanding. She said it was common during her household visits and that she would rather see the dog in action than not have an idea of his temperment.
Good luck!

Well I am hoping all is going well with hour visit. I too have two dogs, Labs, who have to have a ton of attention before settling down with new people. I am sure it will go off without a hitch and you'll be waiting for your final copy.

Well it is over. The dog did go nuts but the s/w seemed to understand.
At the end she said "I don't see any problem with you getting approved by the province".
So without missing a beat I said "that's nice" meanwhile inside I am
So she will do the draft while she waits for the rest of the references and police checks come back.
I am so glad that is over.B

Yay Beth! I am sure it is ok to gush to the SW - she is probably used to it. But everyone has their own style. Still - that's nice? We're not talking about the weather here! Congrats on completing this step along the way. Don't forget to enjoy the journey - I know - easier said than done!
