    Our first homestudy visit

We had our first homestudy visit. Our social worker is certainly professional. She isn't very friendly. She has a real therapists look, never reacts to our responses, you don't know if she thinks we are okay or complete losers. KWIM?
So next week I meet with her on my own then dh meets with her the following week then the meeting at the house (EEEEKKKKK) and we're done.
Overall it was better than dental work but not by much.

    OH Beth,
I am sorry you have one of "those" SW's. You can always request a different one.... but then you could have a longer wait. But if she isn't terrible I hope you can just put up with her. Maybe she will warm up as your meetings continue. Ours was nice but not overly friendly at the first meeting. By the third meeting we were all joking and she is a wonderful resource and friend to us now.

Hang in there... this is your first big step and be sure to celebrate it

I'm sorry you social worker isn't more friendly. I agree with Traci. If you can stand her, just try to make the best of it so your process isn't any more delayed.

Just wanted to say that we're at about the same point in the process for an IA from China!

We had our first homestudy visit a few weeks ago and our second one is this week--at the house. Then she'll divide and conquer, I guess...

We're expecting to trave some time this Summer.

I'm glad you survived your first visit. I'm sorry your SW isn't more friendly, but I agree, if you can put up with her, you're probably better off.

I am sure your homestudy will turn out just fine. When we had our homestudy with Malia and update for Maci, we did not have to be intereviewed seperately. We had a real laid back SW, very sweet but professional but she made us feel at ease. I used her for both and would use her again. Hopefully, she will loosen up a bit.

Sweetie, don't worry about friendly, worry about efficient. My SW was a doll, friendly and adorable, but the HS was so full of typos and errors (my ESL students write better) that it had to be corrected twice and that delayed my dossier over a month. I bet she all business and will get everything done in jiffy.

    Hi Beth,

That sounds nerve-wracking - just what you need - a little extra stress in the process. But like everyone says - the homestudy will go just fine - and hopefully all that professionalism will mean tht she is efficient and will turn your report around fast!

    Good luck!
