I have benefits from work that are provided by the NJ State Health Benefits Program (for state and govt employees). I previously had NJ PLUS, which had IVF coverage -3 attempts per successful pregnancy...now here comes the horrible situation i find myself in..
The wonderful state of NJ changed the plans offered under the State Health Benefit Program in april of this year and all of the plans offered are now a "4 attempts per lifetime" maximum for IVF...
Before I had the govt job that i currently have, we used my husbands insurance and did 3 attempts (which was also a lifetime max). The three attempts under his insurance all failed. But when i got my benefits, we were eligilble for 3 additional attempts since the previous were not paid for by the State Health Benefit Program. so, our second attempt was successful.Under the old plan, i would have been eligible for 3 additional attempts (due to a live birth). NOW, with the change in plans, the insurance co is asking my doc office for a medical history and the billing dept called to tell me that they do not think we will be covered because this would be attempt #6 for us, and our plan has a lifetime max of 4...
Does ANYONE have state health benefits and have an answer if they will be counting my previous attempts under my husbands insurance??? Anyone in the same situation? Thanks for any replies. I am so disappointed right now, as we were actually starting up the bc pills for this IVF attempt when this insurance issue arose.
