I guess I'll post here too.I'm new to the boards. I was recently introduced to this board by a friend.
My hubby and I have been married for a year now. We've been trying since we got married, but we both have medical problems. Mine since I was born, his more recently.
My hubby was diagnosed with having a stroke at 4 months old. There were basic medical problems, but he went and had his testosterone checked (during a regular CBC check) and it came up about 75 points below normal. So his PCP sent him for a sperm count and that came out really low. Not as low some that I've been reading, but low.
This is all new to us. I figured this was the one thing I could hope would happen naturally for us, but seeing how it is, I'm guessing it won't. The only other person who knows is my SIL (my hubby's half sis). We haven't said anything to my mom yet and we don't talk to his parents/family.
My hubby is upset and stressed about it all, but we haven't really talked about it much. I can't say I'm more upset than him, but for all the medical problems and surgeries I've been through since birth, this just seems like another set back.
All my friends have kids and I can't turn to them, so I'm up in the air on who to talk to. I've considered seeking counseling, but at this point, I can't bring myself to do that just yet, since it's all too new.
For what I've been told (and seen so far) you all are very nice and you won't be telling to "hang in there", "let nature take it's course", "miracles do happen" and all that other jibberish. I just need a support group that understands where I'm coming from.

Lucyann-Welcome! This is a wonderful place full of people who understand what you are going through on this crazy journey. Have you seen an RE or had any IF testing done? That would be my first suggestion. Then you and your doctor can decide what the best options are for treatment. It makes it a little easier to cope if you know what the diagnosis is. Best of luck to you and don't be afraid to ask questions here-we're all here to help each other!

Well we just started getting into things. I contacted my OB/GYN and he gave me a male infertility urologist (something or other)... THe urologist is covered under my insu. Now I finally was able to hunt down what my ins covers. You'd think working for them they'd make it esy to find, but nope. I searched for about 30 min and right before I was ready to call our HR, I found it.
I think more or less right now, I'm still grasping at all of this. My hubby wants to talk about it now, but I don't want to. I swear our emotions and timing are off on the subject matter.
Thank you for welcoming me...

one thing I have learned is, if you are not ready to move on to more aggressive/medicated treatment then it is better to wait until you are. Are all of the IF issues with DH? Have they done all the blood tests for you to make sure u are Oing and having a sufficient LP?
Good luck and I hope your STC journey ends soon with a wonderful BFP!

Hi!! I had tons of bloodwork done throughout the past year and everything was normal in my bloodwork. I'm ovulating, etc.. We just recently went to a doc for him, but I'm not sure if I like him. My DH don't care, but there was something about this doc I didn't like. We're gonna see what this doc tells us and go from there.

well, that is GREAT that your BW has all come back normal! Yea!
Has your DH started any vitamins? There are a lot that can help. And I have heard of men using clomid for better sperm production.

No he's not taking anytyhing yet. We're just waiting to see what the doc says. But that's one of the reasons why 'm not sure if I like this doc. He seems to think we have forever and is moving at the speed of molasses.
