Hi all. Hope all of you are well. Let me get right to the question....I am currently in my 2ww(my first BFM) since I have began this journey. I went to RE on March 9, and there were three follicles on left ovary. One was 15.5 and other two were 15mm each. They told me that they grow approximately 2mm per day and RE told me to go home and take HCG shot on Friday March 11th then have BMS on Sat and Sun. Well, I am not sure about what sizes the follicles should be. I read on another post that her follicles were sizes 29 and 31mm?????
I just want to know what size VIABLE follicles should be to be fertilized....please let me know what you all heard and believe. Thanks alot, Jennie

My RE always triggered at about 17-20. He told me anything 16 or larger is mature. Good luck, sounds like you had a good cycle. Did you ask what your lining is? If this cycle is not successful, do that next time too.

My RE - mature is 18, anything 18-20 trigger, anything 16-18 can catch up within a day and still trigger.
24 is the limit, anything over can rupture and kill the cycle.

My RE says anything over 16 is typically mature and can be released. Of course it is the follicle measurement and the E2 level combined that determine when to trigger. I've also heard that when on injectibles, the follicle size could be mature when slightly smaller. Yours actually sound just about right. Good luck !

Just an update...
I just found out this week that this cycle failed. I already began AF. I start Clomid 150mg on Sunday and take for five days. Have ultrasound on April 4th. I have a lot of questions for my RE but can't ever seem to get him on the phone, just nurses. I am going to ask him a lot more questions this time around but he already said this is the last try with clomid. Next he wants to try a different medicine. I did everything He said to do. I lost 25lbs last month, I had the HSG, which was clear, and I had three follicies and took my HCG shot when to and had BMS as directed. I feel so broken....I keep hearing family say,"It will happen if it is meant to" and "Maybe your not meant to get pregnant again" I hate those things. I am fighting depression sooo hard but I don't know what else to do. I am sorry to vent here but I have no one else to vent to. My husband doesn't want to hear it over and over constantly, which I understand, and my Dr's tell me give it up already, my sister-in-law is having a baby on Monday and I just want to scream.....I have only read two stories of women who got pregnant on their third try with clomid and I have read hundreds of stories of women who try for years....the odds don't seem to good. I am sorry, thank you for listening.......Jennie

Just wanted to add that most RE's that I have been to consider 18 mm a mature follicle size. Not all follicles will be the same size so if some are a few mm's smaller they can catch up and if some are larger that's fine too. I have had follicles in the 20-28 mm range MANY times and I have never ovulated from the follicles prematurely or had anything rupture... Lupron takes care of the supression.
