Hey Ladies, quick update on me.
I'm on half days now due to the physical demands of my job and my ever shortening cervix. I am rather pleased about that as I am beginning to get really tired much earlier in the day than I used to.
I go back for another cervical length check, a growth scan, and a ffb test on Monday. Hope all is well in there. My Peri recommended that I purchase a prenatal cradle for moms to be of multiples. They are not really attractive but hey... what really is in pregnancy.
I hope all you ladies are doing well!

Hi ladies
Ailese - half days sound good hun. You need more rest than the average pregnant lady as you have more weight to carry. Bless you, it is tough being pregnant with one little buba, let alone 2. Wonderful, a miracle but draining on your body. You listen to your body too, when you need rest you take it!!!
Daettc - hope you are OK lady and resting when you can. I am sure you will get to work a bit more, I am with you there. I need the cash too much!! I have my DH working in the bathroom right now! We cant afford a new bathroom but he is bleaching, grouting, painting etc. I think I am 'nesting' as I have a whole list of things I would like done but poor DH has to do the hard graft! Hey its a good time to get demanding...I HATE home improvements and am so better at surpervisin! LOL!
My cervical length has remained the same today - 35mm - so good news there. I went to the pre-term study clinic and this lovely doctor checked my cervix and the position of my placenta. All looking good. I will get checked again in 4 weeks and if there is a big drop they will consider progesterone shots and/or a rubber band around the cervix. Have you heard of this? Its very new apparently (well in the UK anyway...) but a lot less invasive than the stictch. I feel so much more positive now, it makes a big difference to feel you are being looked after. I was getting so stressed with my OB.
Have a good weekend!
All my love
Em

Mizz B--Good luck on MOnday
Let us know how it goes. Do you plan on working much longer? I would lo9ve to find a way to do half days--but that is pretty impossible teaching.
Emma--Yeah
Glad to hear your cervix is behaving and you are feeling more comfortable with your care. That is so important! I will definitely check into the rubber band! Sounds interesting!
I am doing a decent job of resting! We havent gotten into the new house yet so that helps. AS soon as we do, I know I will want to do more. I will try not to though
Glad all seems to be well with you both

Hey Ladies,
Emma, great news about your cervix length!! And I'm pleased to hear that the pre-term study clinic and the doctor were so great. Sometimes, a change in scenery is all you need. It sounds like they absolutely have your best interests at heart and that is such an outstanding feeling. I have not heard about the rubber band option before. Hmmm.... interesting as it sounds much less invasive than an actual stitch. Regardless, you are finally hearing about some preventative measures that are available were you to run into any complications. YAY!
Daettc, how far along are you now? Rest up while you can, Girl! Moving house during pregnancy is a challenge, I would think. You are waaaay more woman than I am. I don't think that I could move while being pregnant. you are a trooper!
AFM, I am almost done with this annoying registry(s). I have one at BabiesrUs and one at Target. Having to purchase two of almost everything, especially because I am having a boy and a girl is a little challenging. But, that's fine.... I might as well get used to it.
I really plan on getting this nursery together within the next two weeks as one of my FT Twin Mommy buddies on another board just delivered her twins at 30 weeks. That's 4 weeks away for me!!! So, I need to be better prepared for the unexpected. Well, that's it for me, I hope that you both have a great weekend!

Aliese--You are getting there girl! I am 22 +4. I am getting so anxious. The move has been easy so far because we aren't in the house yet--lol. So there is no real pressure to have anything done, although I have started boxing things up. I can sit for that
Once we can actually get in, that will be a different story.
Oh don't tell me the registry is annoying! I already dread it--lol. It has to be that much harder with two though. I am not a big fan of "all eyes on me" so the shower and registry scare me. I wanted a very small one and I have already had two people tell me they will be "mad" if I don't invite them. Of course, if I invite them, there are at least three or four people related to them I have to invite. YUCK! I hate it!
This group seems to be hanging in there! I think you all have been awesome support--and I can't wait until we are sharing pics of our precious little bundles

I have been prescribed the 17P shots as well......I didn't know that they could make your cervix longer......thanks for the info.

Worriedinbed,
The 17P shot does not make your cervix longer. The shot actually calms your uterus from contracting, it's similiar to a very strong sedative but specific for you uterus. It seems to me that having a calm uterus allows your cervix to remain calm. I think that the uterus and cervix are closely related and if one is upset then so is the other. Basically, the less irritable the uterus, the less chance for pre-term dilation and shortening of your cervix.
I hope that makes sense and I haven't confused you.

Hi Ladies,
Hope you are enjoying your weekend? After a good month of rain here (the British weather can be so rubbish) I am enjoyin some sunshine today! yah!
Its interesting you mention baby showers. We dont seem to do that here. We buy a gift after the baby is born but there is no get together before hand. When are your baby showers? Sounds like it could be fun but I can understand you would only want close friends and family there.
Cant believe you are 26 weeks already Ailese! wow, time flies. And you have twins to think about. Its amazing that you will have one of each, truely a blessing. Keep your feet up as much as you can. I am sure you will go on further than your friend at 30 weeks. I had Tom at 32 weeks and he was fine, just a feeder and grower.
Lots of love to you both.
Em

Hi all!
Worriedinbed--keep those feet elevated
It really does seem to help!
Emma--Our weather in Ohio has been pretty bad as well. It has been a cool and rainy summer, although today is supposed to be 92 and hot and humid. That makes resting not so bad!
Honestly, I'd really rather pass on the showers, although it does get you some things you need. I can't believe how people invite themselves though--that makes me crazy. Especially people I never really talk to.
How is your weekend? Here I am just packing up to move. Dh and I celebrated six years of marriage yesterday, so that was exciting

Emma, I know right? I am still mind blown sometimes that in about 9 weeks they will be here! It's rather daunting! LOL! I still sit in shock thinking, "OMG, I will be 7 months pregnant next Sat!" Surreal.....
Honestly, I am not having a baby shower.... Personally, I don't like all of the attention and the silly little games that you are expected to play.
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that... but having a registry doesn't imply that you absolutely have to have a shower. Especially in our case, I only have the registries set up because dh and my families are spread out all over the world and wouldn't be able to attend our shower anyway. My Aunt in England got word of the registries and now she and my Uncle want to be in on it... it's becoming a domino effect. I feel you on the Brits not having showers. My cousins were both amazed at how much stuff you can put on this list of "must have" baby items. Most of the stuff on many a baby registry is needless, to be honest. I have 2 very small registries. But, I'm not complaining, my Mom told me that my Uncle will buy both of the babies cribs. I was like, Hell Yes!! that's an extra $500 dollars in our pockets. So, these registries def have their benefits.
Daettc, as you can read from my post above, I'm with you on the showers. Congrats on your anniversary!!!!! I'm so jealous of you ladies and the weather. That is one thing about the South, it's hot as all hell here. And being pregnant on top of it, is not cute. Constant sweating, never going out in the outdoors until after the sun has set, and having to always have your hair up in a bun, are the side effects of pregnancy that are geographical. Blah.... So, please enjoy your gloomy, cloudy, and rainy days. I would sell my right pinky toe for a week of that. LOL!
I have my big doc appt today, I will be sure to update sometime tommorrow.
Ailese
