Question about removing the cerclage

I have a question and wanted opinions...

My Peri said my RE placed the stitch in so good that she will not be able to take it out at 37 weeks like we had hoped becasue the strings are cut too short so if she tried to remove them I would go through the roof.
So I will have to wait till I have the baby and get an epidural.
Now my delima, Should I leave the stitch in since we have 10 frosties waiting on us or take it out and have another Cerclage put back in if i get PG again...
My DH and I are not having any sex right now because of the Cerclage, no baths, no swimming. So the thought of leaving it in after delivery sounds crazy.
What do you all think?

Trish

I do not know if I have any advice, except that you probably should discuss that with your OB. If they can leave it in, I think that they would want to do a c-section way before you start contracting ( I tore/slipped through mine with contractions). I know that transabdominal are left in, but I do not know about the vaginal ones.

i had a cerclage with my DD and my OB removed it in the office, we've decided that going forward, when I get pg again, we'll be doing another vaginal cerclage after testing for chromosomal issues. I would think leaving it in would make you prone to infection and potential uterine issues later.

I got my cerclage at 13 weeks, and it was no bath, no sex, no swimming for 9 months - yeah, none of that stuff for the rest of my pg and then a few months thereafter.

I didn't know you could leave a vag one in....
I would remove due to increased infection.... dh may not be a happy camper if you left it in and a embie transfer might be a little difficult with a closed cervix....
talk to your OB and RE.

A vaginal cerclage cannot be left in, only an abdominal cerclage is left in place. I think your doc meant it can't be removed until after you have your epidural so you don't feel the removal.
