Hi: Anyone have a doc other than a SIRM doc who uses intralipids? Having a hard time finding research on this though I have a huge number of journals that I can search...Makes me wonder. Other's thoughts on intralipids in general also would be so appreciated. Thank you!!Intralipids

Hi there, my RE in Charlotte, NC says that very few RE's do them ( he does not, but he had not done alot of research on them so he promised he would and get back to me since I am requesting to do it) I don't think they are very expensive, since it is not a blood product (ie. IViG which is pretty pricey)
He said most of this stuff (IViG and Intralipids seems to be done in Chicago with a good degree of success, why more Dr's aren't on board, I am not certain?)
But if you read my post from yesterday or the day before regarding the "EFT" done at Yale, you might find something interesting in there, if you are unexplained or have implantation problem. Endometrium Function Test is different then a normaly endo biopsy that most of us have already have had probably during our IF history of treatments, they usually do the basic endo biopsy pretty early on I think.
This EFT test is ONLY done at Yale to my understanding. Good luck and many prayers to you!

Thanks Kammers,
I was interested to read that thing about Yale. Yale is right where I live, so I will ask my doc more about it. I will also try to push for the Intralipids since it is such a benign procedure, and possibly could help.
Thanks

Dr Coulum in Chicago and Dr. Rosalyn Franklin in chicago ( Ithink thats where she is). do the tests. Or you can go to reprosource website and put your state in the tab under patient section and it will show which drs do this immune tx. Im also doing intralipids, I have elevated natural killer cells.

Hello, I'm working with Dr. Coulam in Chicago right now. I was planning on doing IVIG treatment as I've done that once couple years ago and my insurance covered it by now they won't as more strict or something...anyways I'm now going with Intralipids and I've tried having my Fertility Dr. from Green Bay WI do this for me but he won't and never has and I've tried checking with my gyno to see if they would do this as it's such an easy procedure but nobody will do it. I live in Upper Peninsula of Michigan so I'm going to have to travel to Chicago to get this treatment done. My insurance does say they cover the cost of medication well I still have to pay copay but less than what Dr. Coulam wanted to charge me for the meds. I have an FET of March 1st so I hope the Intralipids will work for me as this is last try for DH and I. There are a lot of websites on Intralipds out there as I've definitley done my share of web browsing the subject as my NK cells are elevated.

Intralipid Dosage and Timing
I am trying to get Intralipid treatments as well. I did the NK test and it came back elevated. My Dr. agreed to do the treatment but wants me to find out about dosing and timing. Do any of you know what the prescription is?
I know it is 100 ml of 20% intralipid...not sure how much saline it is diluted in?
I think it is supposed to be given 10 days before transfer..but not sure. All of my info is from googling.
ThanksMe and DH: 32
DH: Perfect
Me: bilateral hydrosalpinges 11/10
Tubes removed 12/10
2 Failed Fresh IVFs (perfect 5 day blasts)
1 Failed FET: (perfect 5 day blasts but thin linings)
2 Cancelled FETs (fluid in uterus on 1, thin lining on the other)
Not sure why these embies aren't sticking????

I'm considering my third IVF after my previous ones failed. The RE ran some blood tests before my last one and it was done wrong at the lab. Well, it was an ANA Choice test that came back positive. Thats an autoimmune test that helps detect Lupus. Autoimmune disorders can hinder pregnancy. My RE suggested intralipids but at the point of financial exhaustion I said no. Now, so many things are falling into place like my skin rashes, unexplained disk herniations and IVF not working that I'm considering this treatment. Other doctors have mentioned autoimmune disease to me in the past to explain some things but now it's making sense. What does everyone know about this and what is an NK test?

Tracy,
I would definately do the intralipids --they cost about $500, but on the east coast they may be cheaper (Im on the West coast). NK is Natural Killer cell test. It is a test to determine if your level is too high. If its too high, the NK cells can kill off the baby while it is trying to implant. The treamtment for NK cell problem is intralipids. Thats what i have- elevated NK cells.
Hydro-
Differnet doctors give different dosages. Mine is what you listed. Usually the infusion is given 7-10 days before transfer and then after BFP and then if labs are ok...you might not need another one. But some get monthly infusions anyways (at least thru first trimester). It all is very confusing and intimidating..but the intralipid itself is basically an egg protein solution. Supposed to be harmless. But to tell you the truth, Hydro...that is odd that your doctor is asking you to find out the dosage. He should know that. I would suggest he contact reprosource dot com- they are a company that does these referalls/consults from MD's. You can look at their site its really intersesting and thorough...
HTH,

I have an auto-immune disease and after my second miscarriage tests showed that I was having an auto-immunes response to my husband's genetic make up. Doctor believes this immune response is b/c of my heightened immune system which is due to the auto-immune disease. My doctor recommended intralipid therapy and I just had my first dose last week. If I receive a pos pregnancy test next week, I will be receiving an intralipid infusion every 4 weeks until 24 weeks.
