Hi ladies,
We've been TTC for #2 for 14 months and I'm age 37. After being on Dr. Kwak's protocol since June, we decided to give my body (and sanity) a break from all the drugs for three months to help improve egg quality and get healthier. I was dx'd with elevated NKa and anti-nuclear antibodies. I am also Rh negative. So I stopped the synthroid, prednisone, metformin, progesterone and lovenox injections. I was so upset with myself for gaining 20 pounds since June while on the meds. We met with an RE for the first time at the end of October and he gave me heartbreaking news that I have a low ovarian reserve and IVF would be the best way to go due to that and my DH's low motility. He also said I'd have more success if I lost the weight but not to take too long since my clock is ticking. He also made it clear that he doesn't buy into the RI theory and said there just isn't enough data to support it. I had been referred to Kwak from my acupuncturist so I was going about this journey a little backwards, although I did have a miscarriage in June.
So, instead of the drugs, I researched supplements and instead have been doing DHEA (to improve egg quality), Co-enzyme Q10 (aids in mitochrondial cell function), Vitamin E, Fish Oil, Mega Foods Prenatals, Baby Aspirin, Women's Precious (a chinese herb) and acupuncture treatments and yoga. I'm also taking Replesta once a week to bring my Vitamin D levels back up to where they should be (supposed to help with IVF success).
Well, holy crap -- I'm pregnant, naturally. And terrified. It's still only CD27 but I've been having sore boobs and fatigue for about a week now. My period is due today and all I've had is light pink/brown spotting when I wipe (sorry if TMI). The line on the HPT (it's a FRER) is a FAINT line -- does that bode poorly? Has anyone here had a faint pink line and still went on to a beautiful baby? Last time I had a faint line I miscarried at 6 weeks.
My question for you is WHO DO I CALL? I was going to give my RE (Richard Sherbahn) a chance for a while before returning to Kwak. I know if I call Kwak she's going to be mad that I stopped and put me right back on the meds and do another treatment of IVIG (I've had 4 so far). Or, do I WAIT? I haven't been taking the progesterone or anything.
Has anyone ever had success going the natural route by taking supplements etc to reduce inflammation? It's just so hard to know what to do. Thanks for all your thoughts and input!
Sarah

Hi Sarah! MANY MANY MANY have had success by doing what you did. COngratulations btw!
It is possible to have a fiant line epecially since you're only cd27 and hcg may have just started secreting to your body. IDK who would be the best person to call, BUT an ob-gyn would be good to get an appt soon. Also, keep testing to see if the line gets darker. I know many ladies do that. If you really want to know what's going on, the ER is always a choice. Right now it will be too early to see a heart beat most likely so waiting may be all you can do. Best of luck to you and DH!
