Pregnant again 1st time using steriods ???

Hi i was wondering if anyone can answer my question.
Its my first time tomorrow using steriods, i am using 20mg of prednisilone and 200mg of progesterone - along with asprin and 5000mg of fragmin.
A friend i met through another forum also a recurrent miscarriage patient said i should be on 25mg of prednisilone not 20mg as thats the standerd dose.
Also should be on 400mg of progesterone not 200mg,

1. Does anyone know what the standered dose is for prednisilone steriods for miscarriage patients ?

2. should i be asking for 400mg of progesterone

3. is to much progesterone like 400mg a day to high in pregnancy or is progesterone no matter how high example 2x 400mg a day safe.

I am taking omega 3 - 6- 9- taking asprin and fragmin i start tomorrow
is this safe ? i read somewhere that omega 3 acts like a blood thinner ??

xx

Hi Sparklequeen

First, CONGRATS on your pregnancy. I pray that you have a healthy and safe pregnancy and wish you all the best with your bundle of joy.

Regarding your question, I'm not sure of the answer but wanted to remind you that everyone is different and every protocol could be different due to the nature of the individual dx. You have enough to worry about and be concerned with i.e., your pregnancy and as hard as it is, try not to compare yourself to everyone else.
The most important thing is to have some trust in your doctor and ask them as many questions you have, even verifiying what you learned from the other board, to give yourself the comfort you need in what they’ve prescribed for you so you can rest easy.

I hope you don't mind my response but I am TTC and seldom have to take a step back from the board bcos with all of the info going around it can be a bit overwhelming and cause more anxiety that needed so please keep that in mind. Again, best of luck!

Sparkle-

One note on the Omega 3-6-9 plus blood thinners. If you are on any blood thinning medication, you should STOP taking the Omega 3-6-9! It is possible to thin your blood too much and that can be dangerous. It's almost like double dosing. My father had a dangerous nosebleed because of that and lost about 1/3 of his blood. (They couldn't stop the bleeding). The ambulance worker thought he might not make it and was advising my parents to call family members. Fortunately, he's now okay. Not to scare you, I just wanted to emphasize the importance of stopping the Omega-3s.

Hi girls thanks for your posts sadley i didnt get that far into my pregnancy as my 3rd beta showed my hcg had dropped down 10 so i am slowely miscarrying. I have not bled yet but i would say i am 4weeks 4 days pg "was"
so its quite a early loss which could be down to a number of things really.
I asked my gp about the omega 3 with me taking asprin and fragmin as i had read on the net about the omega acting as a blood thinner and he said this would not be a problem when taking them so i dont know what to belive
" confused" xxx

So sorry Sparklequeen. How many m/c have you had? My heart goes out to you. You are a strong woman. Allow yourself time to grieve. Sending hugs across the miles!

Thanks barren-bipolar i have 16 losses 9 missed miscarriages @ 8 & 10wks
2 blighted ovums 1 molar 3 chemicals and 1 early loss @ 4wks 5days.
I started steriods for the first time with this pg but i never got that far to see if they worked. I have had all different tests all are normal i have fragmin and asprin which does not work. I am having some immune tests done 2010 tests that my hospital cant do, but hoping i get my sticky bfp and thesa steriods work so i wont need the immune tests as they cost a fortune as well.
My nurse said it will be good to ttc straight away because i am still taking steriods as i have to be weened off them by dropping 1 every 3 days.

Wow! What a journey you've been on... sounds like a lot of disappointment (understatement of the century!)

I truly hope that the tests show something or the doctors get some flash of insight. The good thing is, you're making changes (not just doing the same thing each time).

I'm hoping to start some immune testing in January myself if this next cycle doesn't work. I know what you mean about the cost of the tests. I'm trying to see if I can get them covered under immunology codes instead of fertility. I wish we could just try out the immune treatments without being tested! I mean, I'm already a lab experiment! Why not try something else?
