IVIg in Australia?
Does anyone know of anyone in Australia who does IVIg in Australia?
I have a high concentration of NK and all I can find is a few guessers who want to try prednisone and a few other side effect ridden things. There is someone in SYdney that everyone says is fantastic but again...prednisone. Help if you know anything please.

Holymoly...
you can try to seek out Australia as a keyword in the search feature (top right drop down of this forum here) and see if you get any docs names showing up. Otherwise you shouldn't discount the value of the prednisone -I'm believing it was actually the more instrumental in helping me succeed with my one preg. than the IVIG. & the side-effects are not that serious or in anyway detrimental or suspect for long-term things - it is a bit of "moon" face and some puffiness, sleeplessness and moodiness that I was affected with but the dosage is really not that high and it is only for the first trimester that docs keep you on it. Please investigate a bit more about those who've been on prednisone and the success rates and how little serious side-effects there actually were as well as you are continuing your IVIg doc search. take care and best of luck, Ally

I know the steroids work, I have a severe reaction to them.I was prescribed about 20 mg for a bit for something 20 years ago and I was in the ER 2x's with heart palpitations.I have no heart problem now or before.I now wear contacts as the increase in my blood pressure almost made me lose the sight in 1 eye...as you all know very well, I would risk anything to have a baby but a heart attack and or blindness and a few other things that were brewing makes me terrified to try it again.

Hi HolyMoly43
Been on the ivf rollercoaster for 6 years also dealing with high NK cells. I know I would be interested in knowing if you found anyone who uses IVIG. Would appreciate it if you let me know. thanks Constance |

Hi C,
there is a provider in Melbourne. This is not IVF so it will have to be a separate thing while you do IVF. This provider does Intralipids as well as IVIG. The intralipids in my opinion are better as they are no where near $4000 just for the stuff .The intraliipids are not a blood product and easier to obtain AND work AS effectively in most NK sufferers as IVIG .My test showed the intralipids wre fractionally better at distracting/killing the NK cells as the iVIG. I don't know about you but I cn think of penty of things to do with $ 4000. If yoy PM me with your e-mail I'll send the name and phone number of the specialist. As far as I know it is against the rules to do so in an open forum. I'm 5 days into my 2ww after IVF and for the first time with intralipids doing their stuff. sorry I have been so long getting back to you,,I've been away and very distracted with all of this. |
