Estradiol question-please help (pregnancy mentioned)

Hi ladies,

This is my first post on the forum since I recently discovered it. I am currently 24 weeks pregnant after following immune treatment. This past weeks I have lost my sleep over one of the drugs that was prescribed by my RI in the beginning of the pregnancy. I took estradiol from week 5 to week 12. The thing that worries me is that it said do not take during pregnancy. I asked my RI and she said it is ok to use it during pregnancy in the dosage I was taking and that the label was referring to data for an older drug. I saw in the forum that estradiol is used for IVF and FET. I conceived naturally. Has anyone else used it for natural pregnancies? Please any respond would be great I am starting to lose my mind.

Thank you

Christina,
sorry you have lost sleep and then had no reply at this forum... I've been negligent in my moderator duties due to schooling and an upcoming move of homes.

I don't know anything reassuring about the estradoil except to say that it is a natural form of hormone that the body produces and if you know anything about progesterone, and how many women take progresterone during preg., then you may know that it also has a warning not to take during prg! I think the warnings may be applicable in certain dosages and some circumstances but that the fertility clinics and docs definitely know how much to prescribe and what has been effective... I think the fact of the warning being not to take during prg. may refer to other stages and many times what we take in the initial first trimester is otherwise not really recommended for later 2nd or 3rd trimester stages.

I hope that your doc has managed to give reassurance and think that all is going well considering you are so far along and more than halfway to holding your baby!

take care and try not to fret if everything is going along fine!
Ally

I really wouldn't worry about it at all...there are so many IVFer's that take it as part of their standard protocol and just because you conceived naturally doesn't mean it is any more dangerous for you....

Ladies,

thank you all so much for replying. It has been a while since I last posted.
Jen X congratulations and many blessings on your pregnancy
I also posted on SIRM forum about the subject and the answer I got was the following and thouht I share it: "You are correct that hormone supplementation is commonly part of fertility treatment. When hormones are used that are exactly like the ones the body normally makes (bioidentical) then we can rest assured of their safety. Unfortunately, the FDA warnings don't distinguish between the different formulations; instead they use "class labeling" where all related products carry the same risk even in the absence of data"

Thank you soooo much for replying
