Intralipids? Need help finding Doctor again
I previously posted a message and received some good information. However, I live in Pennsylvania, do IVF in Maryland and need a doctor that will write for Intralipids but allow me to continue IVF in Maryland. I have checked with the Sher Institute and currently waiting on word from Dr. C. in Illinois (I don't believe this is going to work out). I can't seem to find a local doctor or anyone close to me to help me. Most will require me to travel for the Intralipid Infusion. I don't have a problem driving a few hours but do not want to get on a plane. I continually waste money on consultations that don't get me to the result I'm looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm going to be starting my last IVF very soon and need to find a doctor for Intralipids ASAP. Desperately seeking help! Thanks!

Twin,
I answered you on the SIRM bb. CNY Fertility Dr. Kiltz uses intralipids in his clinic in Syracuse. Sher Inst. would not do them for me unless I became a patient and this was a year ago. Maybe they have changed their rules. I didn't wan't to fly back and forth to NYC. I'm not sure if CNY Fertility will coordinate tx. Dr. C. I think will work with your dr. The intralipids I just had took about 1 1/2 for the infusion and then I drove back 2 hours. It was really nothing. I had to drink about 80 oz of water the day of the infusion and a few other things to look out for but nothing major. I do think it helped me conceive this past cycle but unfortunately I had an early loss most likely chromosonally related. Good Luck! |

Thanks so much for the info. I will give them a call tomorrow. Dr. C. will allow me to do IVF somewhere else but I think will require me to get on a plane to IL. Not something I want to do. Other doctors (including Sher) won't allow me to do IVF somewhere else. I'm kind of stuck and I'm only going to try this one last time. Unfortunately, I can't find anyone local that is familiar with Intralipids. Sorry to hear this didn't work out again for you....it's hard and frustrating but somehow we find the courage to continue. Best of Luck!

Twin,
Not sure where you are coming from PA. Maybe you could just become a patient and drive to NYS. You would have to travel to IL for the intralipids but it's only one day if you had to. I know the cost and flying etc is a PITA. I ran into that same thing with Sher and I know I couldn't swing the travelling. |

Hi!
I did think about that but really didn't want to change IVF facilities now. I am only doing this one more time and already selected another donor. We are ready to get started. I called CNY but I would have to become a patient there. They would most likely require me to do more tests and re-do the ones I already had. Would also require me to have an office visit consult. Wouldn't do anything over the phone. It would probably be a good 3 - 6 months before I could get started on another cycle. At age 44, every minute counts and this really wouldn't work. Yep, a trip to IL might just be the only answer for me. Hate to spend more money on traveling but if I have no choice, I'll do it. Thanks and I'll keep trying to find someone closer to me for the intralipids. I do have one local doctor that uses IVIG looking into it but got the impression that they weren't interested in dealing with anything 'experimental.' Maybe I'll get lucky..... |

Twin,
Sorry it didn't work out at CNY Fertility. They seem to be a good clinic and I've been happy so far. They just got a 45 and 43 year old pg. with their old eggs that did local monitoring at my clinic. I just turned 43 so I totally get it on the age thing. Carolyn Coulam might be your best shot. Good luck! |
