next step?
So I had 1 m/c at 4 1/2 weeks then an ectopic. My OB put me on Clomid and I got pg and had a live birth at 33 weeks. Now we are trying again but with IVF. !st IVF ectopic, 2nd IVF m/c about 9 weeks.
My RE did do an immune pannel and checked- Total IgG, IgA, Igm and Factor V (Leiden), and Prothromibin factor II, Protein C Activity, Protein S, Homosystein level, Lupus Anticoagulant, MTHFR, ANA antinuclear, Thyroglubulin Antibodies, and Thyroid Peroxidase autoantibodies. The results were borderline Thyroid peroxidase autoantibodies and 1 copy of A1298C MTHFR (Though he said this mutation is not a problem) RE put me on baby asprin and folbee for my IVFs which as I said ectopic and m/c at 9 weeks. Any thoughts or suggestions. I am just looking for a next step or things to discuss with RE at next appointment.

Hey there, (pg/child ment)
I just wanted to say that I didn't have a successful prg until my dr. put me on prednisone. Not just the little bit of medrol they give you before transfer, but 5 mg 2x per day starting on day one of my cycle. With my FET I started it when I started my meds and was on it a few weeks prior to transfer. Then I stayed on until 12 weeks. This time my dr. has me staying on it until 30 weeks. The thing with antibodies is that you can test positive sometimes and then negative at others. With dd I only tested positive for the thyroid antibodies. This time I'm positive for ANA and APA as well. Dr. said I could have been undiagnosed during my pg with dd or that they were just dormant. Anyway, not sure what else to tell you, I think your testing was fairly complete. It took us 6 rounds of IVF (all perfect cycles except one) to have our dd and only 1 this time. Sometimes IVF and our bodies just never make sense. Good luck! |

Sam - Do you take heparin, or lovenex with your pregnancy too?
I have APA and found out after a second and first trimester loss. Since then we have done two FETs and one fresh IVF (perfect cycles) and all were BFN. We are now taking a much needed break, but we have 4 frozen embryos left (3 grade 2, 1 grade 1). I started heparin the day after each transfer, except this last one. I started this one when I started my FET meds. Now, we plan on waiting to start it when I get the first sign of a positive pregnancy. I have never taken predinsone, but have wondered if that helps, since it suppresses the immune system. |

Yes, I am on Arixtra (I'm allergic to Lovonox and Heparin). I took it while ttc during some of my failed cycles. Then when I switched dr.'s the dr. said I didn't need to be on it and took me off. That's when I got pg with dd. With this most recent IVF my dr.'s didn't retest me for immune stuff, just went off of my previous. I was pretty surprised that I even got pregnant when I found out at about 10 weeks that I had the the anticardiolipid and antinuclear antibodies and went through the IVF untreated. They started me on the blood thinners at that time. For cycling I was only on the baby asprin and prednisone.
