Safety of Humira??

Hi Ladies,
Wondering if any of you have any info or thoughts on the safety of Humira and its side effects. I have had a successful IVF cycle with Humira (DD born 2008)!, and I am getting ready for another IVF to try for # 2. I am concerned about using Humira.....1st time I would have done anything to conceive, but I have read some scary side effects of Humira......links to Cancer, lymphoma, leukemia, Lupus

ANy thoughts???

I am hetero for MTHFT; elevated NK (50:1 20.6; 25:1 16.6) and elevated TH!;TH2 ; TNF-a:il-10(CD3+CD4+) 45.4; IFN-g:IL-10(CD3+CD4+) 19.0

mciracle mum,

Humira is considered more unsafe than the other type of inhibitor which is ENBREL... some of the research and info I've gained is that the Humira as a TNF inhibitor does something different than Enbrel and can lead to more problems conceiving IF you are masking some sort of infection in your system...

The other side effects you are mentioning are rare - go wiki search and you will find more details - so I wouldn't be as concerned about that but maybe distinguishing between why Enbrel is considered safer than Humira (both immunosuppressants)...would help make you calm and relieved about the drug.

Thanks for the info.
I did conceive using Humira before, so I was more worried about the long term side effects. I will do a little more research, but I feel I am going to go ahead and try one more IVF with Humira ......

Thanks

I've read that humira is better than enbrel. Dr. Beer's office uses humira. I have not heard of any stories from the immunology board of people having serious side effects with humira. I occassionally get a slight sore throat the days after I take it.
