Thyroid (Preg Ment)

Hello,
I have never had issues with my thyroid that I have known of. Before I got pregnant my levels were within normal range. Well last week I had some blood test done and my TSH came back at 3.21. My doctor said that she would like it under 2. She wanted me to do another test a week later which came back at 3.75. So it went up. She didn't seem concerned but I am. What does this all mean? Are my chances of miscarriage really increased now. I am only 7.5 weeks. She is starting me on 25 micrograms of synthroid at my request. She wanted to wait another week to see what my levels did. I would rather be safe than sorry. Please someone tell me that I will be okay.

lachance, your doc is right to not be over-worried - thyroid levels fluctuate lots during prg. and you are not out of the range of normal just in the higher levels indicating your thyroid has slowed down a wee bit.... normal for all that is going on hormonally in your system being prg.!

but seriously, thyroid conditions are more of a problem for conceiving and not generally connected with causing miscarriages... sometimes they are showing other immune issues if there is a history of miscarriage but not if your thyroid has been in mainly normal levels in non-prg. state.

You sound like you are doing all that is required at this stage and try not to worry...
congrats also!
Ally
