Arixtra for DVT
I wanted to know if anyone here has even been on the drug Arixtra. I found out a couple of months ago that I have an inherited DVT (Deep vein Thrombosis). For my new frozen cycle I just started my RE prescribed Arixtra injections 2.5 daily starting 3 days before transfer scheduled May 1'st if all goes well with the medication. They will transfer 3 snow babies as I like to call them. However, since I am new to taking this medication and I could not find much research on it I was wondering if anyone here had used it before and if you know of any success stories of women who have used a low molecule weight heparin such as this. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

K, best of luck for the upcoming transfer - sorry no one had info for you on the Arixtra meds... many, many of us, however, have used some form of low molecular heparin like Lovenox, Fragmin, etc. for the durations of our prgs. without a hitch - if you search DVT and pregnancy in the thread search at the top of this forum you will notice that someone recently delivered a baby with a DVT and taking meds for it right thru to the delivery ...
best of luck again with the upcomign cycle and keep us posted.. Oh, the word of advice would be to make sure you have proper calcium and vitamin D intake just incase there is any bone loss connected with taking blood thinner altho' the low molecular weight forms present less risk than the regular heparin of bone density loss.. regards, Ally

BC-Tabithalyn- Thanks so much for responding. Although, Arixtra is a fairly new low molecule heparin I just wanted to know how other women are coping with these types of medications. I appreciate you telling me about the importance of making sure that I get enough calcium and vitamin D in my diet. I did not know that this medication could possibly cause bone density loss. Also, thank you for the well wishes for my cycle, all the shots have been somewhat daunting so it's nice to know that I am not alone.

I'm currently taking Arixtra and am 13 weeks prg. I am taking it for Anti cardiolipin antibodies which causes clotting problems. Anyway, I've taken both Heparin and Lovonox in the past but am allergic to them which is why my dr. prescribed the Arixtra. So far it's been great! No more itching, welts, or hives. Good luck to you! |

formerly Sam- Congrats on your pregnancy that is so wonderful!!! It's nice to hear a success story of someone taking Arixtra. Today was my second day on the medication, since my RE wanted me to start a few days before transfer scheduled May 1'st. I am glad to hear that the medicine has not caused any side effects. Thanks for responding and plenty of baby dust to you.
